Handsome Rex came for his second nail trim today and he was a bit nervous to come in so I had some sausage in my hand to greet him which worked a charm and he soon remembered that this wasn't a scary place to come and started wagging his tail.
After a little sniff, Mum fed him liver paste and I trimmed the ends of his nails. There wasn't much to trim as mum had done a really good job of trimming them at home but it's all about building positive associations with other people handling him.
After his nails were done I pulled out the steps to the bath to see if I could lure him in and he was very brave and climbed the stairs very quickly and was soon eating food in the bath. We did some repetitions of climbing the stairs into the bath which he seemed to find fun, then I worked on slowly closing the door. He didn't seem to worried at all!
After we called that a day, I sat on the floor and he gave me a kiss (which was unexpected but amazing!!) and he turned around and sat on my lap and let me pet him!! This is huge progress from his first visit where I didn't touch him at all! Hopefully it's all leading up to being able to bath him!
Well done Rex you are a superstar and a very handsome one at that!!!! 🌟🖤🐾
