Teddy is a long haired Chihuahua who loves the fuss and attention, but can take or leave the bath and blow dry! 😂

Some dogs never get to the point where they love arriving at the groomers and that’s absolutely OK.

As groomers and owners, we understand why the grooming process is important. We know about keeping coats clean and maintained, trimming nails and making sure our dogs are comfortable. But our dogs don't understand the reasons behind it all. They don't know that the bath is helping to keep their skin and coat healthy or that we're doing these things for their benefit.

All they know is what's happening to them in that moment.

And that's why it's so important to meet them where they are, work at their pace and make the experience as positive as we can.

They don't have to love every part of the process for us to give them a good groom they just need to feel safe enough to trust us. 🖤

Its shedding season and have you ever wondered how your groomer can get SO much more hair out than you can at home?

The magic is in the process, and a good deshed always starts with a bath...

The aim isn't to stop the dog shedding (as it's a completely natural function!), but to remove as much loose, dense undercoat as possible.

A good deshedding shampoo cleans the skin and coat, helping to release the dead hair.
The drying process then starts to lift and separate any hair that has become compacted, leaving the thorough brush out to remove the rest.

The whole process works together! 🖤

Thankfully, this boy visits regularly, so all that loose fluff ends up on my salon floor rather than his owners' carpets!

Calling all my Sensitive Souls 🫧 I think ive found us a new favourite!

This is the Soothing Shampoo from Ruff Barkinson and, although it’s not a new addition to their range, it’s definitely new to me and im looking forward to sharing it with you.

It’s a lovely gentle shampoo with aloe vera, chamomile and lavender, designed to give a really soothing bath experience while leaving the coat feeling clean, soft and lovely!

This one has a gorgeous lavender scent that has made my whole salon smell like a Spa.
I think this shampoo is going to be very at home here! 😴

I FINALLY got my hands on a bottle of the Detangling & Anti-static Mist, from Korean grooming brand Shining Pet ✨️

I’ve only had it in the salon for a short time and have used it on a handful of dogs so far, but I’ve been really enjoying it.

It feels incredibly lightweight when you’re working it through and I’ve been really impressed with the slip it gives without leaving the coat feeling heavy or coated.

The coats I have used it on have felt soft, light and beautifully bouncy afterwards and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in how quickly I’ve been able to work through tangles.

First impressions are VERY good and im looking forward to using it more. 🤍

Apparently I groom baby bears now too 💁‍♀️🐻

This is Hugo. His actual breed is a bit of a mystery, but he’s most likely got German Spitz in his ancestry.

Whatever he’s made up of… he’s bloody cute! 😂

Hugo comes in regularly to keep on top of his gorgeous double coat, regular grooming is particularly important for dogs like him who naturally shed throughout the year.

The aim isn’t to stop him shedding as that’s what his coat is designed to do! It’s about regularly removing the loose, dead undercoat so it doesn’t build up, compact or end up all over his house instead.

A clean, well-maintained coat makes such a difference. Removing dirt, dead hair and product build up allows the coat to separate properly, keeps the skin in better condition and makes regular shedding cycles much easier to manage.

Hugo’s regular visits mean we can keep that lovely fluffy coat in great condition all year round, rather than waiting until he’s absolutely packed with loose undercoat and trying to tackle it all at once.
