Hear ye, hear ye! A new generation of dragons has arrived, and they’re looking for their forever kingdoms!

Meet Syrax, Dreamfyre, Moondancer, Meleys, Grey Ghost, Sunfyre, Seasmoke, Caraxes, and Sheepstealer — a fiery little crew of Cane Corso/Bully puppies who may be small now, but are destined to become some VERY impressive dogs!

These pint-sized dragons are full of puppy mischief, curiosity, zoomies, and enough adorable wrinkles to conquer even the coldest heart. They’re busy learning the ways of the realm — including potty training, manners, leash skills, and the ancient art of not eating everything they find on the floor.

While they may currently look more like tiny potatoes than fearsome dragons, these pups will grow into large, powerful dogs, so their future families should be ready to provide plenty of training, socialization, structure, exercise, and love as they grow.

Each dragon has their own personality waiting to emerge, but one thing is certain: life with one of these pups will never be boring.

All puppies will be adopted with their first set of vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and a spay/neuter certificate for when it is age appropriate.

hello from Rosie in foster care

we’ve had so many messages about this sweet girl since her arrival into care! Ambrosia, nicknamed Rosie, is doing so well.

As a reminder, Rosie was sitting in an Ontario shelter for 3 months with no adoption interest. Her light was fading as the days went by and by the end shelter staff thought she was depressed. Foster care has been so good for her. She loves the home life.

Rosie is not officially adoptable, and we may be considering an adopter from the fosters network before we decide if she will be publicly adoptable. (This is a perk of fostering ppl!!).

Lemon is 1.5 years cancer free in her forever home 💕

Lemon came into care in 2021 and it was love at first sight when she was adopted by her fosters. Life was going good for her until in 2023 when she developed a mass on her ear and it was diagnosed as cancerous.

Through consults with an oncologist, Lemon’s family made the tough decision to amputate her ear to have the best chance of successful removal. Lemon also received 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by monthly check ups for 1 year.

In 2025, Lemon officially rang the bell at TVEH to celebrate being cancer free. And now, Lemon is living her best life!

She’s the light of her family and even walked her mom down the aisle at her paw-rents’ wedding 🥂

We know there are other similar stories with our alumni, and not all are in a good place. We think of everyone navigating health issues with their scruff family 💞
note: we will be opening up new funding opportunities for alumni & community to apply for financial support for medical care later this year.

adoptable Hazel update 💞

We’ve received some inquiries about Hazel — a new arrival we introduced you to back in September. So what’s the update? She has an adoption pending!!

You might remember us posting another beagle Paige a few months back. Well, we received so many applications for her that we were able to apply one to Hazel! We didn’t need to post her for adoption.

We know it might not be the news those of you patiently waiting for her adoption profile to go live but this is great news for her!

We have been noticing a strong love of beagles on our page since taking in a few this year. We will definitely keep that in mind as we continue to come across beagles in need of rescue placements. We also always need fosters available to accept new arrivals so feel free to start there.

Check out the cute pics of Hazel settling into foster care. She’s getting used to Toronto and apartment living. Much better than the shelter. Also while she was thought in shelter to be around 10 years old, she’s actually more like 4 yrs old our vets have confirmed.

If anything changes with her adoption status we will let you all know! Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts 💞

almost 1 year home for senior Angel 😭

Angel, now named Hazel, was left at a local shelter as a stray. A senior — it was apparent she had a home but was no longer wanted. But we knew we wanted her in our family.

She joined SOS foster care and was a literal ANGEL! For a senior pup she actually landed a home within a few months after meeting her perfect match at one of our adoption events last October.

Hazel is far from the shelter life and is enjoying both her house and cottage — even exploring the Ontario lakes on her families boat. While our hope is to avoid dogs ending up in the shelter, Hazel shows us how possible it is to love a rescue dog and a senior large breed at that (some of the least likely to get adoption interest fyi!)

We love you Hazel 💞 and are so excited you found a lovely family.

Mosey had an early morning visit from an SOS transporter to bring him to a segment on CP24 with SOS Public Relations coordinator Christina.

He did SO good with his new handlers from being in the car, behind the scenes and front & centre. This young guy is available for adoption.

✨ new intake - welcome ambrosia ✨

You might remember this girl as we posted her on our stories a few months ago with the intent to help promote her adoption at a shelter. Ambrosia seemed to be such a lovely and easy placement! But 3 months went by and no one inquired. Additionally, Ambrosias spark started to fade and she was showing signs of stress — she began losing fur incredibly fast and not eating well. The shelter felt it was best for her to move to a foster based rescue.

Ambrosia moved to foster care on Friday and she’s settling in well. She is friendly with her foster humans, happy to get time with people, go on adventures and even have a temporary backyard of her own. Her fosters are calling her Rosie for short.

Ambrosia will continue to settle in to care and is not adoptable just yet. She will be heading to the vet for her intake appointment this week. Right now she is aged at about 3 years old and with the breed label flat coated golden retriever. Shes about 60lbs.

Settling into his new routine in foster care, this loving scruff is happiest when he can be close to his humans. ZAPOTE has already mastered cuddling and is continuing to improve his leash skills on every walk! He is keen on leading the way and will chase small animals (no cats, please!), so he will continue to need a consistent and confident handler to help him master his leash walking skills too.

The sweetest of the bunch, ZAPOTE also loves making friends with dogs and people he meets. A confident canine companion would likely become his built-in best friend. ZAPOTE has shown he can be gentle and respectful of boundaries when meeting young kids after supervised and slow introductions.

ZAPOTE is an easy-going boy and likes naps, his chew toys and spending his free time hanging with his humans. He’s surprisingly athletic, too! He loves to practice his agility skills, and if someone were to introduce ZAPOTE to dock-diving one day, his foster dad thinks he’d be a pro.

Like many scruffs adjusting to a brand-new life, ZAPOTE is still learning to feel comfortable on his own, and may whine about his preference for you to stay home! Currently, ZAPOTE has at least one human home most of the time, so he’d prefer someone who works from home most days and will need continued support as he gains confidence being alone. Whenever you’re reunited, expect many wiggles and kisses!

This Black Dog Appreciation Month, there’s a new reason to fall in love…and his name is ZAPOTE! Sweet ZAPOTE is ready to be picked by his forever family. Could that be you?
