✨ new adoptable - meet Keira ✨

Female | 7 years old | 62 pounds | Mid to high energy | Good second dog | Older, dog-savvy kids | No cats please | From Ontario | Fostered in Toronto | Affectionate, intelligent & a snoozer

Meet KEIRA! A typical husky gal, KEIRA is still pretty energetic for 7 and she is currently going out 4 times a day. Each outing consists of either walk-and-sniff time, some training like impulse control at doorways, or some time on the long leash to run and play at the park. Though she hasn’t had the chance to full-on play with another scruff yet, she is thrilled to meet every dog on the sidewalk and seemingly attempts to shrink herself for smaller friends.

KEIRA does have a bit of prey drive when it comes to critters like bunnies and squirrels, so we recommend a home without cats. Her foster says she barely pulls towards prey anymore and has made incredible progress on her leash skills.

The main thing this angel needs help with is learning that being home alone isn’t all that bad.
Initially found with another dog, we do think KEIRA could benefit from a canine companion at home to help. KEIRA would also likely love being around kids as she is not shy at all with strangers, but she can get a little overexcited and jump up to say hi so a home with older kids would also be ideal.

While KEIRA is only starting to show off her sing-songy voice, it’s usually when she wants something or senses it’s close to walk time. “Personal Space” is also NOT in her vocabulary… yet, but she is starting to show more independence. KEIRA will only stop snuggling when she gets too hot, otherwise expect to find her curled up close by your feet, ever hopeful a hand might wander down for some scratches.

She may cover you in a bit of husky glitter and lots of cuddly charm, but honestly who could resist? Think you could be this sweet, gentle soul’s next adventure buddy? 💕

KEIRA at our upcoming adoption event on Saturday, May 30th from 11am - 2pm at Parker Pet Care (68 Floral Pkwy., North York, ON) Come meet her and see if she might be the right fit for you!

💜 new adoptable - meet Paige 💜

Female | 13 years old | 25 pounds | Low energy | Lives with a dog | Older kids preferred | Previously lived with a cat l Fostered in Toronto | Charming, Snack-Lover

The SOS community fell instantly in love with this sweet senior beagle, and honestly, we’re pretty sure you will too. After all PAIGE has been through, from starting life as a test animal to later ending up in the shelter after her owner sadly passed away, this gal needs a soft landing to spend her golden years surrounded by comfort, care, and all the love she deserves.

PAIGE enjoys short walks and leisurely days of snoozing in and out of her crate. A slower pace is exactly what this gentle girl needs. She’s also perfected the art of stalling on walks for extra attention and pets from admirers along the way. PAIGE will also need fairly frequent bathroom breaks, so a home with someone who works from home or is around often to let her out for quick breaks would be ideal. She even takes her medications like an absolute pro with her mealtimes. No surprise: this girl loooves snack time. Yours, hers, doesn’t matter. A delicious smell is just about the only thing that’ll perk those floppy ears up when PAIGE is off in dreamland.

Her foster family has lovingly compared her to Dolly Parton and now we can’t stop picturing it! They’re both just as lovely, with big personalities, and full of love to give. Now imagine being 80 in those heels and you’ll understand why PAIGE has a little trouble with her balance 💅 A small bump can easily knock her over, so she’ll need older dog-savvy children or calm fur siblings to help keep her safe. PAIGE can also startle awake at times and can need support on the stairs, but keeping her harness and leash on in the house has been helpful for guiding and supporting her.

While PAIGE may be in her senior years now, she’s full of life and SO much charm. When asked what they love most about her, her foster family simply said, “Everything, she’s a dream.”

PAIGE will be at our adoption event this Saturday, May 30th from 11am - 2pm at Parker Pet Care (68 Floral Pkwy., North York, ON) Come meet her and see if she might be the right fit for you!

Gilligan, Professor & Skipper 💞

The pups are getting bigger since the last time we shared them. They are in foster care in Winnipeg and will be flying to Toronto when they are old enough to leave mom and be on their own. The pup on the right & mom will be going to and the other two are coming to sos!

We’re always looking for flight parents flying Winnipeg to Toronto!

They are not adoptable yet but we are working behind the scenes at getting them Ontario ready!

long weekend foster care vibes for rigatoni

We got some amazing footage from rigatonis foster and he absolutely LOVED his weekend away!

We pulled rigatoni from the shelter after he was marked urgent. He was there for 3 weeks and not doing well in the kennel space and it was starting to get the best of him. Luckily, we had a foster able to help us get him out!

It’s now been 6 weeks since he’s been in foster care and he’s doing amazing! This weekend he went on a cottage adventure with his foster family and we hear he loved the beach, getting a pup cone and hanging at the cottage. He also didn’t care one bit about fireworks or thunder.

We love what a foster environment can do for dogs in need. Guidance, structure, fulfillment. So much goodness. Also guess what? He has an adoption pending! Thank you to everyone who shared his recent post!!!

So many wins for this boy 💞🌊🍦☀️

5 years home for Pepper 🖤

Pepper’s adopter shared this wonderful update as they celebrate 5 years together. Over the years, Pepper has grown from a very fearful and hesitant dog into a silly, gentle girl who loves couch snuggles, beach runs, rolling in grass, camping trips, enrichment puzzles, and special treats.

She’s worked through so many fears — from learning to feel comfortable on walks and around people, to tackling elevators, balconies, busy roads, parks, and basketball courts. She’s even learning how to play tug with her dog pal, and every tiny tug is a huge win.

Pepper still has anxieties, but her confidence has grown so much over the years, and she’s become a completely different dog. We’re so proud of her progress and so grateful for the patience and love her adopter has given her. 🐾
