🐾 In Loving Memory of Lewie 🐾
Some dogs leave paw prints on our hearts. Others leave an imprint on an entire community. Lewie was one of those dogs.
From the very first day he walked through our doors wearing his oversized service dog vest, we knew he was something special. With his gentle eyes, loyal heart, and unwavering dedication, Lewie quickly became a favourite among our team.
Over the years, we had the privilege of watching Lewie grow into an incredible service dog and companion. He was always by his mom's side, providing support whenever she needed someone to lean on—quite literally. His devotion, intelligence, and quiet strength helped guide her through life's challenges, and together they shared a bond that was truly extraordinary.
For seven and a half years, being a service dog wasn't just what Lewie did—it was who he was. Helping his mom was his purpose, and he fulfilled that purpose every single day with love, patience, and unwavering loyalty.
As time passed, Lewie's body began to fail him, and the chronic pain he carried made it impossible for him to continue the work he loved so much. Though his heart was willing, his body could no longer keep up. Faced with the most difficult decision a pet owner can make, his mom chose to give him the final gift of love and compassion. She selflessly let him cross the Rainbow Bridge so he could be free from pain and rest peacefully.
Lewie's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the comfort he provided, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. He was more than a service dog—he was a best friend, a protector, a partner, and a hero.
To Lewie's mom, thank you for sharing him with all of us. It was an honour to know him, care for him, and witness the incredible bond you shared.
Run free, sweet Lewie. Your work here is done, and you did it beautifully. 🌈💙
