Ending the session with some good neck scratches, a recap of leading and exchanging breath.

Part 2

Rubbing all over with a stick to help with reach, and allowing first pets and scratches on his neck and jowls.

(This video is a continuation of the haltering and learning to lead session)

Tango

Halter training day.

We've done several sessions with him prior to this, teaching him to turn in towards the handler when asked for a direct change and facing up. He was not letting us get close enough to touch, so the decision was made to lay him down for haltering.

He is an eager student and very quick to catch on to things. Within 5 minutes of getting up after haltering, he was leading nicely on a loose shank and allowing touches on both sides of his face and neck.

Meraki

Making new friends and reinforcing learned lessons after some time off.

This guy is so easy going and solid minded for one so young. He has a bright future ahead of him!

An excellent opportunity for those looking for a project horse to focus on a specific discipline, or those looking for a personal horse for recreational or competitive pursuits. A jack of all trades, with potential to excel in any.

Parton

Showing a good retention of learned skills after some time off from training, while at the same time meeting a new person and adjusting to a slightly different approach.

This guy is so willing and quick to grasp the lessons presented to him.

As he gains confidence, we are going to see him start to come out of his shell and let his personality shine.

Toothless

Getting to know a new person after some time off.

Tuff

Trimming feet for the first time!!

He did really well, and we managed to get a bunch of the excess toe he was sporting trimmed off.

Up next in this area of training will be a first trim on his hind feet, and then moving on to shaping and cleaning up his soles.

Sheldon (formerly Banshee)

Getting some miles under his belt in our continuing training program before going home to start his life with his new owners.

He is gaining experience with riders of varying experience levels, and going out for rides of different lengths, teaching him to refer to lessons learned and adapt to various scenarios.

Georgie (formerly Phantom)

Gaining experience with riders of varying experience levels, while notching up those miles under saddle.

Georgie went through our 2026 spring sale, and has stayed with us to continue training.

Our commitment to these horses does not end with a sale. We are invested in seeing each horse find a successful path forward; offering supports and services like continued training, home visits, advice and encouragement, and a buy back policy if things are not working out.

When you purchase a Stelkia Ranch wildie, you gain more than a horse, you become part of a community.
