Today, a dog named Max reminded me why I want to have a grooming business for my retirement.
I know I am never going to perform perfect, competition-level show grooms—and that’s okay. I believe there is something much more important: every dog deserves the best spa treatment we can give them.
Senior dogs, especially those with health conditions, weak front or rear quarters, sore faces, arthritis, or other health challenges, still deserve to feel clean, comfortable and cared for.
For these dogs, grooming isn't about perfection. It's about comfort and dignity.
A bath.
Nails trimmed.
Mats removed.
A clean, comfortable face.
Gentle hands.
A calm environment.
And most importantly, doing it all within a short, carefully managed time frame, so we don't overtax a senior dog's heart or body.
Sometimes the best groom isn't the fanciest groom.
Sometimes it's simply helping an old dog feel good again.
That's the kind of grooming business I want for my retirement—a place where every dog is treated with patience, kindness and respect, no matter their age, appearance or health challenges.
Because every dog deserves their own little spa day. ❤️🐾
