Meet Aaron👴🏼 & Abba👵🏼

At 17 years old, these lifelong siblings and best friends are ready for their forever home together.

Aaron and Abba have been together since the day they were born. These beautiful Ragdoll x Siamese siblings have spent all 17 years of their lives side by side, and there is no question that their next chapter will be together too.

They are remarkably easygoing senior cats who have settled beautifully into a busy foster home with children, other cats and a dog. They don’t need a perfectly quiet house — they simply need a loving family, cozy places to sleep, and each other.

🩵 Aaron 👴🏼
Aaron is the social one of the pair and one of the most affectionate senior cats you could meet. A stunning lynx point Ragdoll x Siamese, Aaron wants to be wherever his people are. He follows his foster family around the house, sleeps with them at night and happily settles onto a lap whenever one is available.

And at 17, he certainly hasn’t slowed down as much as you might expect. He can still jump onto beds, couches and chairs with no problem and loves laser pointers, string toys and catnip mice.

He’s wonderful with other animals. After initially figuring out his place in the resident-cat hierarchy, he now happily coexists with the other cats and can often be found sleeping on the same couch or bed as them. He also does wonderfully with the family’s respectful dog.

Aaron has an especially sweet relationship with his foster family’s four-year-old daughter, who calls him her “baby doll.” She gently carries him around, cuddles him while they read or watch movies, and Aaron seems perfectly happy to be her companion. He would do well with children who understand how to respect a cat’s boundaries and his age.

His one naughty habit? He’s a food thief. He has been known to investigate the garbage and recycling for interesting scraps and has more than once managed to steal a container that held ground beef before proudly running upstairs with it. He has also been known to steal food right off your plate while trying to look unsuspecting and cute.

Aaron likes being brushed, which is helpful because his coat is naturally a little oily and clumped these days due to his age and managed medical conditions.

🩷 Abba 👵🏼
Abba is a chocolate point Ragdoll x Siamese and a very different kind of cat from her brother. She is quiet, independent and incredibly low maintenance. Abba doesn’t need constant attention from her humans. She simply needs one spot in the home that she knows is hers.

In her foster home, that safe place is an unused office. She has everything she needs there and spends most of her day relaxing in her cat bed, on the office chair or in the sunshine. The door stays open, and she’ll occasionally wander into the hallway before returning to her favourite spot. She doesn’t need to be shut away, she just needs somewhere she knows is safe.

Mealtimes are when Abba becomes especially social. She happily accepts pets while her wet food is being prepared, but otherwise she’s very content doing her own thing. We think Abba would do especially well if her safe space in her new home were a bedroom shared with her adopter. She could come out and build a relationship on her own terms, especially at night when the house is quiet. She doesn’t need to be rushed, she just needs someone willing to let her decide when she’s ready.

Aaron and Abba’s bond is undenialable.

After 17 years together, he is Abba’s familiar and her source of confidence. He’ll often go into her room to curl up beside her for a nap. She doesn’t follow him around, but knowing he’s nearby helps her feel safe enough to get up, explore, eat and drink. They need each other.

🩺 Senior care
Despite being 17, both cats are doing remarkably well, and their day-to-day care is very manageable. Aaron has kidney disease and hyperthyroidism, both of which are currently being managed, but it should be understood that he is receiving end of life care. He gets kidney-friendly wet food with extra water mixed in for hydration, along with his regular food, fresh water and a fountain.

His thyroid medication is simply applied to his ear twice a day, and Aaron is an absolute champ about it. No fuss, no wrestling, just an ear massage with medication and on with his day.

Both cats have some normal senior changes, including slightly cloudy eyes and some dental tartar, and both have had dental cleanings in the past.

Because of his age and chronic conditions, Aaron is considered to be on hospice/palliative care. But you certainly wouldn’t know it from watching him. He still plays, jumps onto furniture, follows his people around, cuddles and occasionally attempts to steal chicken from the recycling.

He is very much enjoying life.

🏡 Their forever home
Aaron and Abba don’t need a perfect retirement home. They’re already living in a busy household and doing beautifully. They need someone who will give Abba a safe space and the time to build trust, continue Aaron’s simple medication and dietary routine, and most importantly - keep these two siblings together.

Their adoption fee is a donation to Arthur Animal Rescue.

They’re 17, but they’re not finished living. There are still sunny spots to find, meals to enjoy, laps to curl up on, toys to chase and people to love. And after 17 years, there is still each other.

Could you be the person who gives Aaron and Abba the loving forever home they deserve?

“I just want my cat to have kittens once before she gets spayed.”

We hear this far too often, and we need people to understand why this mindset is part of the problem.

Your cat does not need to have a litter to experience motherhood. She doesn’t need to have kittens to feel fulfilled. And there is absolutely no health or emotional benefit to letting her have a litter before she’s spayed.

What those kittens need is a world that already has more than enough cats looking for homes.

Rescues are overwhelmed. Shelters are full. Foster homes are stretched thin. Cats are being abandoned, surrendered, and left outside to survive in conditions no animal should have to endure. We are trying to find homes for the cats already here while more kittens are born every single day.

And for every litter bred because someone wants their cat to experience motherhood, there are kittens in rescue waiting for someone to choose them. There are friendly cats who have never known a home. There are pregnant cats giving birth outside, and tiny kittens fighting to survive without shelter, warmth, or food.

Please don’t add to the problem because you think your cat should have kittens just once. If you want to experience the joy of having kittens in your life, adopt or foster. There are so many already here who need you.

Spaying and neutering is one of the most important things we can do to reduce overpopulation, prevent suffering, and give the cats already here a better chance at life.

We cannot rescue our way out of this crisis if the number of cats being born continues to exceed the number of homes available for them.

Be part of the solution. Spay. Neuter. Foster. Adopt. And please share this message. The cats who are already here deserve a chance, too.

The Tripod Trio needs your help! Meet Limp Bizkitty, Randy Travis and Kenny Rogers.

Three boys, three big personalities, and three surgeries standing between them and a more comfortable life. Let’s get this trio back on their three-legged feet!

Randy Travis and Kenny Rogers are brothers who came into our care late this summer from a farm. They both came in missing part of their back leg, and the remaining stump is calloused and tender. Because of this, they both have luxating patellas, a condition that causes their kneecaps to slip in and out of place.

These sweet country boys have settled beautifully into their foster home and get along with people, cats and even dogs! Randy is a gentle sweetheart who loves kisses, while Kenny loves affection and is always ready to be the star of the show.

Unfortunately, their little legs are causing them considerable discomfort. Both have developed calluses from the way they move, but the tissue remains incredibly tender. Amputation is expected to improve their mobility and help them get around more comfortably.

Then there’s Limp Bizkitty! At just 14 weeks old, this little rockstar has his whole life ahead of him. He came into our care after suffering a serious leg fracture. Unfortunately, his leg cannot be saved, and amputation is necessary to give him the best chance at a comfortable life. He’s receiving pain medication while he gets strong enough for surgery, and we can’t wait to see him back to playing, exploring and causing all the usual kitten chaos!

Their combined veterinary bill is $4,080, and we need your help!

Every donation, no matter the amount, gets us closer to our goal. Can’t donate right now? Sharing this post helps more people see their story, and you never know who might be able to lend a paw!

Let’s rally around Randy Travis, Kenny Rogers and Limp Bizkitty and give these boys the fresh start they deserve.

Donations can be sent by e-transfer to [email protected] with the subject line “Tripod Trio.” Tax receipts can be requested.

Donate if you can, share if you can’t, and help us show these three boys some love. We promise they have plenty of personality to make up for those missing legs!

HOW IS MARCIE STILL AVAILABLE?!

Seriously… look at that FACE!

HAVE A CAT AT HOME AND LOOKING FOR A FRIEND FOR THEM? STOP SCROLLING. YOU’VE FOUND YOUR GIRL.

Marcie is just 10 months old, and we honestly can’t believe this sweet girl hasn’t been scooped up yet!

Her story started outdoors in a cat colony in Pike Lake, and now she’s looking for a forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and settle into the life she deserves.

She’s petite, playful, gentle, and absolutely LOVES other cats. And honestly, this is where Marcie really shines.
She’s playful without being overwhelming. She loves to play with other kitties, gently engage with them, and even chirp and call out to her feline friends! She’s submissive and adjusts her behaviour to the cat she’s with, making her such a lovely companion for a resident kitty. She just wants a friend to play with and spend her days alongside.

Marcie can be shy with people at first, so she’ll need some time to settle in and learn to trust you. But once she feels safe, she turns into the SWEETEST little lovebug! She purrs incredibly loudly, makes biscuits like there’s no tomorrow, and head-butts your hand when she decides she needs more scratches. ❤️

A playful little friend for your cat AND a biscuit-making, purring sweetheart for you. What more could you ask for?!
Marcie has so much love to give. She just needs someone willing to let her blossom at her own pace and show her how wonderful life can be.

PLEASE DON’T LET MARCIE KEEP GETTING OVERLOOKED!
If you’ve been thinking about adding another kitty to your family, please consider Marcie. Your resident cat could have a new best friend, and you could have one very special little girl to love.

Meet Abba and Aaron, a bonded pair with 17 years of love behind them and so much love left to give.

These Ragdoll x Siamese siblings have been together since the very beginning. They’ve never spent a day apart, and they never will have to. When they’re ready for adoption in the next month or so, they’ll be looking for a forever home together.

Abba is a quiet, independent girl who finds her confidence in her brother. With Aaron by her side, she’s finally beginning to come out of her shell. She may be a little reserved with her humans, but she has a wonderful appetite, uses her litter box without issue, and shows no obvious signs of her age. Together, these two would make lovely companions for a family willing to give senior cats the chance they deserve.

Are you a senior looking for a companion? Or someone with room in your heart for a couple of golden oldies?

Senior cats are often the hardest to find homes for. They can spend months, sometimes years, waiting for someone to choose them, all while having fewer years ahead of them than the kittens who are adopted in a heartbeat.

But they still have so much to offer. They deserve soft places to land, familiar faces to wake up to, and families who see their age as just one small part of who they are.

Abba and Aaron are just two of the many senior cats at Arthur Animal Rescue waiting for that chance.

To help more senior cats find their forever homes, all senior cat adoptions are now available for a donation to the rescue.
