There’s something special about getting away from the sanctuary for a little while. 🖤
Today, it was just Shadow and I at the University Of Guelph Arboretum — fresh air, quiet trails, new smells, and a little time to simply be together.
These little resets are so beneficial for the pack, but they’re just as important for me as the founder. Sanctuary life can be all-consuming, and sometimes stepping away for a few hours gives us all the chance to decompress, reconnect, and come back feeling a little more grounded.
Rescue is so much more than the work we do inside the sanctuary. It’s also making sure the dogs get to experience the world, enjoy their lives, and have moments that are simply… peaceful.
And honestly, Shadow is pretty damn good at reminding me to slow down. 🐾
