Fur-Ever Homes Rescue Fur-ever Homes Rescue is a registered Canadian Charity based out of Calgary, AB. We are 100% volunteers based and rely solely on the generosity of donors.

Our Mission is to reduce the number of displaced animals and find them loving homes in Calgary and area. We work with a team of trainers, Veterinarians and animal care specialists to assure all of our animals receive the care needed. If you can't ADOPT, FOSTER

Headline: 🐾 TOMORROW: Meet Your New Best Friend! 🐾

We are so excited to announce a special Meet & Greet event happening tomorrow, Saturday, October 24, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM!

Come down to Shawnessy Petvalu to meet some adorable, adoptable, and absolutely amazing dogs looking for their forever homes. 🏠❤️

🌟 Special Guests:
We will be joined by four wonderful pups: Brooke, Dolly, Basil, and Monty! (Check our website for their full bios—you might just fall in love!). There may even be a few more furry friends joining us as well. 🐶

This is also a great chance to meet some of our dedicated volunteers who help us save so many lives. Stop in for cuddles, questions, and tail wags!

It's Fido Friday! Today we are getting an update on Atlas who is now known as Walter.

"I adopted Atlas (he has been renamed to Walter) and he has been the BEST little companion ever. He was very scared of everything for the first 2 months like the leash or going for walks. He would hide under the couch or bed for hours if he saw the leash but now he LOVES going for walks and will run towards me when I hold the leash up. He is becoming very brave and confident everyday!
He just finished basic obedience classes and he did so well. He is the biggest cuddlebug. He always puts his head on my chest and will snuggle for hours.
Although it was a tough first two months, he really has been the easiest dog and adapted so quickly. I still can't believe he is mine!"

🇲🇽 Volunteer drivers wanted for a Mexico rescue mission! 🐾

We’re looking for preferably two volunteers to drive a Kia Sorento to Cabo San Lucas, returning much-needed kennels to our rescue partner.

This is a 4–5 day adventure, and we’ll cover the trip expenses: gas, hotel stays along the way, two nights in Cabo, and your return flights. On the way home, you’ll help bring some very sweet rescue dogs back with you! 🐶❤️

You’ll need a valid passport and a heart for rescue. If you’re interested or would like more information, please email us.

🐾 MEET ARLO 🐾

Arlo is a sweet, curious one-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for a patient person to help him feel safe and grow in confidence. At about 10 pounds, this quiet little guy loves playing with other dogs and staying close to his people. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll happily follow you around to see what you’re up to.

Arlo is still learning that reaching hands are nothing to fear, so he needs a gentle home that will let him build trust at his own pace. A confident dog in the home would help show him the ropes. He’s house-trained, has a medium energy level, and would do best with children over 12. He can be left alone for only 2–4 hours.

Arlo is neutered, has no known medical needs, and would benefit from basic training and confidence-building. Could you be the safe, steady home he’s waiting for? 🧡

Ready to meet your new best friend?

Looking to add a ball of furry love to your home? Make sure to stop by PetValu on Saturday, October 24, between 11 am and 2 pm for an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet with Fur-Ever Homes.

Maybe you'll come for the pets, the cuddles, and the puppy kisses... Maybe you'll leave knowing you just met the dog you've been waiting for and want to add to your family.

We are looking for a foster home for Banjo. He needs a home without other animals; where he can feel safe while he waits for his forever family. Banjo is a 1-year-old Frenchie mix. He enjoys playing with other dogs outside the home but needs to be the only dog within it. If you can give Banjo a safe place to stay while he waits for his forever home, please fill out a foster application today and let us know. It's Fido Friday! Today we are getting an update on Matilda who is now know as Maddy.

"Matilda has been lovingly shortened to Maddy and she is doing well. It's been rewarding to watch her come out of her shell and settle in. She is incredibly smart and has learned basic commands and our daily routine quite quickly.
The description that comes to mind when we think of Maddy is 'kind". She takes time to warm up to new people but is extremely affectionate, loyal, and a good listener. She's even gentle and patient with our four year old (who has also done a great job learning boundries). The only real challenge we've had is some stranger-danger protectiveness of our home and family but we are working on this with a trainer and it has come a long way!
We really appreciated FHR's detailed and honest dog profiles. We feel the description of Maddy was very accurate, which helped us understand the commitment we would be taking on. We also liked the meet & great opportunity where we could talk to fosters in person and get a sense of the different energy levels and attachment styles of each dog.
We think the 3-3-3 rule is helpful in adopting a rescued dog. It's important to keep in mind that the process is not linear and will have some ups and downs. That said, we feel we had a better sense of what Maddy's personality would be like - adopting her as a 1.5 year old dog rather than a brand new puppy - which is a major plus for going the rescue adoption route. There are pros and cons to different processes for bringing a dog into your like but we think Maddy is proof that rescue dogs can be amazing companions. SO happy we found her! Thank you FHR!"

How grateful are you for your pet? ❤️🐾

This Thanksgiving, we’re working hard to help more dogs become cherished companions. Over the past two years, Fur-Ever Homes Rescue has helped more than 200 local dogs—but the journey to adoption takes far more than many people realize.

Dogs may need veterinary care, treatment, recovery time, food, and a safe foster home before they’re ready to join a family. We’ve taken on some of the highest medical cases we’ve seen, and the costs add up quickly.

It's Fido Friday! Today we are thankful to be able to update you on Geneviere, now Gwen.

"Her last foster was calling her Gwen and we kept it. She is doing well and loves sleeping in any one of her three beds. She had a birthday March 17 and is now 9 years old.
Gwen had an abcess on her paw but we went to the vet and she has healed well. She is a very quiet dog. She doesnt like loud noises. Gwen is a joy to our family and our girls and all the visitors to our home love her. She is also a fashionista since she has lots of outfits, and sleeps best when she is wrapped in one of her blankets.
We have faced no difficulties with Gwen. She is a smart dog and catches on quickly. When she first came, she did p**p in the house a few times but we estabished a routine and she is now doing well."
