😳🐍 Talk about getting yourself into a tight spot!

This python found itself in a very tricky situation, becoming trapped in the circular sections of a metal tyre rim. Thankfully, it was safely rescued and brought into the clinic for a check-up. 🛞🐍

We performed an X-ray to make sure there were no fractures or other injuries — thankfully, there were no broken bones!🙌

The snake just needed some anti-inflammatory medication and plenty of rest, with its carers keeping a close eye on it to make sure it returns to normal. 💚

A huge thank you to Sue’s Reptile Rescue and Relocations CQ for the incredible work you do caring for and rehabilitating our local wildlife, and for sharing this rescue story and photos with us.

💛🌼 Daffodil Day is here! 🌼💛

Today we’re showing our support for Daffodil Day, a special day that helps raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention and support.

As a veterinary team, we know how important it is to care for our patients and the people who love them. Today, we’re also taking a moment to support the many people and families in our community who have been affected by cancer. 💛

So, if you spot a daffodil today, let it be a little reminder of hope, strength and the importance of supporting cancer research. 🌼

A little flower can represent a lot of hope. 🌼💛

WHAT NOISE DOES THE IDEXX MACHINE MAKE?!🩸😂

The IDEXX catalyst machine (our blood test machine) has a very recognisable sound… or at least, our team thinks it does! 👀

We challenged multiple staff members to recreate the sound of the IDEXX machine — now you decide who nailed it! 🏆

💉🐾 Vaccinations save lives.
Is your pet protected? 🐾💉

Vaccination is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your pet from serious, and often life-threatening, diseases. Many of these illnesses are highly contagious, difficult to treat, and entirely preventable.

🐶 For dogs, the C5 vaccination protects against:
✔️ Canine Parvovirus (Parvo)
✔️ Distemper
✔️ Infectious Hepatitis
✔️ Parainfluenza (one of the viruses involved in Kennel Cough)
✔️ Bordetella (one of the bacteria involved in Kennel Cough)

These diseases can have devastating consequences, particularly for puppies and unvaccinated dogs. Parvovirus remains a real concern in the Rockhampton region, with many cases seen every year. It is incredibly contagious, survives in the environment for months, and can be fatal despite intensive treatment. Vaccination remains the best protection.

It's also important to understand that the Kennel Cough component of the C5 vaccine doesn't completely prevent dogs from contracting Kennel Cough. Dogs that are fully vaccinated can still become infected because Kennel Cough is caused by several different viruses and bacteria, much like the common cold or flu in people. However, vaccination significantly reduces the severity of illness, helping dogs recover quicker and lowering the risk of serious complications.

🐱 For cats, the F3 vaccination protects against:
✔️ Feline Panleukopenia
✔️ Feline Herpesvirus
✔️ Feline Calicivirus

These viruses can cause severe illness, especially in kittens, but adult cats are also at risk. Even indoor cats benefit from vaccination, as infectious diseases can be carried into the home on shoes, clothing, or by other pets.

🐾 Every pet is different.
While C5 and F3 form the core vaccinations for most dogs and cats, there are additional vaccines that may be recommended depending on your pet's lifestyle and risk factors, including:
• 🐱 FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
• 🐶 Leptospirosis
• ✈️ Rabies (often required for pets travelling overseas)

There is no single vaccination schedule that suits every pet. Your veterinarian can help determine the most appropriate protection based on your pet's age, lifestyle, travel plans, and overall health.

❤️ Vaccination is far safer, kinder, and more affordable than treating a preventable disease.

If you're unsure whether your pet is due for their vaccinations, or you'd like to discuss which vaccines are right for them, give our team a call. We're here to help keep your pets healthy and protected for years to come. 🐾

🐾💙 National Pyjama Day!

The clinic was looking a little sleepier than usual yesterday, with our team swapping scrubs for pyjamas and our patients showing off their comfiest looks.

We may be in our PJs, but don't worry—we're still fully qualified cuddle providers, treat dispensers, and pet care professionals! 🐾✨

If your pet is rocking their favourite PJs or cosy winter outfit, share a photo in the comments—we'd love to see them! 📸🐶🐱

🐾💤 Calling all sleepyheads!

This Friday, the 24 July, our team will be celebrating National PJ Day by wearing our comfiest pajamas to work, and we'd love for our patients and their humans to join in too!

Whether your pet rocks a pair of doggy PJs, a cosy jumper, or simply rolls out of bed looking adorable, we'd love to see them. If you're not visiting us on the day, share a photo of your pet in their cosy outfit in the comments—we'd love to see everyone getting involved! 📸🐶🐱

Let's fill the clinic with wagging tails, cosy outfits, and plenty of smiles! 💙🧸

📸 This photo is a throwback to our National PJ Day celebrations in 2024—we can’t wait to do it all again and see everyone’s cosy outfits this year!
