What a fantastic evening! "Conversations Shaping the Future of Veterinary Practice."
Thank you, Hubert Hiemstra, for facilitating such great conversations for your podcast. The Vet Vault. Thank you also Bronwyn Orr, Jason Organ, of Credabl Ben Marcos of BusiVet and Carl of Cyclo Group. And everyone who attended the evening and shared their stories. Their ideas, their experiences and plans for the future.
Because this is what it is about: the Future of Veterinary Practice.

Vets of my generation are looking to our younger counterparts to take on the mantle of ownership and/or management. How do we ensure that they have the desire and capabilities?
That was what we discussed in an open, constructive and safe place. Thank you, everyone, for contributing.
Let's continue the conversations!
Because thoughts become words, words become actions. It's up to us.
I will let you know when the The Vet Vault episode is dropped! Let's continue the conversations. jb

A very big congratulations to Dr Joelle!! New owner of Leeton Veterinary Hospital. It's been such a pleasure working with you on this journey to ownership. You are a wonderful example to the many veterinary women who think, "Could I own and run my own veterinary clinic?"

Yes, you can! If you are looking for Freedom through Practice Ownership, where you have Professional, Financial, and Personal Freedom, connect with me and let's talk about how to do it.

You're not alone; you don't have to figure it out by yourself. Dr Jocelyn, Smooth Operating Vets.

Here I am again talking about work flexibility in veterinary practice, because we are all different and we all have different ways of working. And we can acheive more if we work together.

My theory is "Bring your best person to do your best work in your best time." This is different for everybody, ie do you have little ones, teenages or none? do you like to travel part of the year, Do you have asthma?

Lets have the discussion with your team members to work out what is the best way for them to work and blend it with the benefits to the business.

I am still hearing the stories of, 'They refused to change my hours so that I could manage ..... , so I left'

Why is this still happening????

Why can't we have these conversations, change our management systems and expectations and work together to keep our fantastic vets in the clinical spaces?

We need to do things differently, and they will be.

There are the most amazing vets doing amazing things for our profession. Thank you to Rebecca Faris and Pip Molnar, and all the Thrive team and the AVA for inviting me to be part of your panel. And my fellow speakers Jason Chuck and Jessica Moore-Jones. jb

We love having vet students come to our clinic, High Street Vets. Often, when the students experience working with us, they come back and work with us!

But..... we are not in Brisbane, we are not in a big city!

SO... you get to experience a calmer life, a connected life, with community. AND..... you get to work up cases to a great level, eg deal with that pericardial effusion now! And we do. Come and join us!

Madison, 5th year vet student, travelled 8 hours from Brisbane: 'I've heard such great things from other students... it's been my favourite placement. If it was in Brisbane, I would 100% work here.'

High Street Veterinary Surgery is looking for another veterinarian. Would you like to join us? Work with us? Meet Dr. Virginia, our emergency veterinarian with a special interest in ophthalmology. Veterinarians across Central Queensland refer complex eye cases to her expertise, allowing pet families to access advanced care locally instead of travelling to Brisbane. Recently praised by a client as 'sensational' for her after-midnight emergency care. That's the High Street way.
