PHINEAS TOO STRONG, TOO GOOD 💪🏼
PHINEAS delivered a tough and well-timed win at Morphettville on Saturday, with Jason Holder producing yet another polished ride in the red, white and green silks on the 4yo son of Shamus Award! Not only was it a gutsy win, but made even more special by the fact that it was his first win since recently joining our stable in April ✨
Jumping from wide and negotiating the rain-affected surface was going to make it a challenge but not ones he couldn’t overcome. He settled in the back half of the field and raced keenly early on before finding a nice rhythm.
Improving into the race approaching the turn for home, and with the tempo lifting, PHINEAS angled towards the middle of the track with plenty of galloping room to chase down the leaders. Beautifully balanced in the straight and with 3-4 lengths to make up, he demonstrated a terrific turn of foot and managed to reel in the leader in the shadows of the post, holding on for a memorable win.
It was another patient, confident ride from Holder, who judged the race perfectly and timed his finishing run to take control in the closing stages.
It has taken a few starts for the horse to find his feet and for us to familiarise ourselves with him but now he’s notched his first win, we are confident that it is onwards and upwards from here 🚀
Congratulations to connections and the entire team 🏇🧡🖤
