Meet the team behind your pet’s care, starting with our wonderful vets. 🐾

You may have had the pleasure of meeting our lovely Dr Jill! 💕 Jill joined the Pendle team last year, and we simply couldn’t imagine the clinic without her.
Along with her beautiful Samoyed, Isla, and her two kitty cats, Taurie and Jazz, Jill treats every patient as though they were her own, with plenty of love, care and compassion.

We thought we’d ask her a few quick fire questions, to help you get to know her…

⭐️What is your favourite thing about Pendle?

🫶I like the “team” feel and that although everyone likes to share a joke they also know when to work hard!

⭐️If you weren’t a vet, what do you think you would be doing?

📷Photographer of animals (wild and not so wild!)

⭐️Do you have a particular area of interest as a vet?

📺 Ultrasound, because these tools help us to make such a difference to animal care

⭐️If you have the chance to work with any animal, what would it be?

🦒 I love giraffe’s… met some up close and personal in Africa… they are beautiful

Dr Jill works in the clinic every Friday and also helps out every few weekends.

💙A important update from our clinic family 💙
Many of you know and love Dr Sam, and we wanted to let our Pendle Family know that Sam is taking some extended medical leave to focus on her health and recovery.

During this time Dr Sam will be receiving medical treatment that will require her to spend some time away from the clinic to focus on her recovery.
We know how much our clients value having continuity with their vet, and we want to reassure you that you and your pets remain in very safe and caring hands during this time.

Before commencing her leave, Dr Sam has carefully reviewed her patients’ cases and put treatment plans in place to ensure ongoing care can continue smoothly. She has also personally handed over her cases to our experienced veterinary team, who will continue to manage your pets’ care and monitor their progress.
We also have additional veterinary support joining our team during this time, so we can continue to provide the high standard of veterinary care, attention and compassion that you and your pets know and trust.

There may be some changes to appointments or which vet you see while Dr Sam is away, but please know that your pet’s wellbeing and ongoing treatment remain our priority. Our team will have access to the information they need and will work closely together to ensure your pets continue to receive the care they need.

Dr Sam hopes to return to the clinic when she is well enough to do so. While we’re very much looking forward to having her back, for now her health and recovery need to come first. We’ll keep you updated and let you know when she is ready to return.

We are incredibly grateful for your patience, kindness and understanding during this time. We know how much Dr Sam means to many of you, and your support means so much to her and to all of us here at the clinic. Our amazing team are here to help and support all our clients during this time, for any questions or concerns please reach out.

You may have noticed a few new faces around the clinic lately, including Dr Gi and her cheeky kitty Bindi! We thought we’d ask her a few quick fire questions, to help you get to know her…

⭐️What is your favourite thing about Pendle?

🫶I love that everyone genuinely cares about animals and brings different skills and perspectives to the team. It creates a collaborative environment to provide the best care for our patients and their owners.

⭐️If you weren’t a vet, what do you think you would be doing?

🍳I could see myself in food technology, combining my love for food with curiosity about science and processes. I’ve always been fascinated by how things are made, probably because I watched ‘How It’s Made’ a little too much growing up!

⭐️Do you have a particular area of interest as a vet?

🦷Dentistry! I truly believe a pet’s happy breath makes for a happy owner. If we consider oral health important for ourselves, why shouldn’t our pets get the same care?

⭐️If you have the chance to work with any animal, what would it be?

🌊Definitely a manatee/dugong! I love how they float around unbothered with no natural predators. Humans could learn a thing or two from them, mind our own business, coexist peacefully, and just go with the flow!

There is no better time to come down, meet our lovely Dr Gi and talk all things teeth. Don’t forget our dental special has been extended until the end of September 🥳

✨ A familiar face is back in the building! 🐾

We’re excited to welcome back a much-loved member of our veterinary team, who’ll be covering some shifts with us over the coming weeks.

It’s always lovely to have a familiar face back in the clinic, and we know our clients will be just as happy to see them! 💕🐶🐱

Did you know that here at Pendle, we offer rabbit desexing? 🐇✂️

After desexing, a little extra care goes a long way!

✨ Check the incision daily for redness, swelling, discharge or opening.
✨ Keep their living area clean and dry.
✨ Prevent licking, chewing or scratching at the surgical site.
✨ Keep activity calm and controlled while they recover.
✨ Make sure your bunny is eating, drinking and toileting normally.
✨ Give all prescribed medications as directed.

We celebrated Hollie’s birthday today with her favourite cake and cuddle from Tom (our beautiful clinic cat). Happiest birthdays for last week Hollie, we hope you had a great day xox 🥳😘🎂

Two weeks ago, four of our nurses Torrie, Chloe, Elvan and Hollie had the incredible opportunity to visit SASH to further their knowledge and continue developing their skills.

They spent the evening learning more about a range of emergency and critical care cases, including vomiting and diarrhoea, blocked cats, respiratory distress, and toxicities in both cats and dogs.

Continuing education is such an important part of veterinary nursing, and we’re proud to invest in opportunities that help our team provide the highest standard of care for our patients.

A huge thank you to the team at SASH for sharing their expertise and making the evening so valuable. We’re excited to bring this knowledge back to the clinic and continue providing the best possible care to our patients. 🐾💙

🦅Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) Update😷
In line with the latest Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) guidelines, we have updated our admission process for injured wild birds.
If you find an injured wild bird:
• Please contact WIRES first to see if they are able to assist.
• If WIRES are unable to take the bird, please call our clinic before bringing it in so we can prepare for your arrival.
• When you arrive, please do not bring the bird into the clinic. Instead, call us or let our team know you've arrived, and we will come out to assist you.

*please note we do not have the capacity to take any sea birds please contact WIRES immediately if you find a sick or injured sea bird*
