How sweet is little Brandy and of course our practice manager Kristen 💖

Brandy came in to see us last week for her 2nd kitten booster vaccination, with a rise in feline panleukopenia virus or feline parvo virus, it’s vital that you cats and kittens are up to date so they are fully protected. Meet the team Monday 🐾

Today, we get to know our practice owner Dr Anna 🌻

1- what animals do you own?

I have Sheldon the conqueror of raw chicken dachshund and Gidget the feline queen of chewing hair ties 💓

2- what’s a fun fact about yourself?
I love jumping in puddles and I enjoy the occasional rum and coke to relax after a hectic day at work

3- what’s your favourite thing to do in the clinic?
I love giving cranky cats kisses on the head after I’ve rolled them up in a ball! I love performing TPLO surgeries and I love walking through the clinic after hours and reminiscing about all the pets and conversations I’ve had over the last 4 years.

I’ve been a vet for 14 years now. I was a vet nurse for 2 years beforehand to get me through vet school. I wanted to be a vet since I was 6 years old and I had no other back up plans! Over the years I’ve picked up many hobbies including dancing, yoga, flower arrangement and scuba diving. I’ve learnt to maintain strong friendships in my life which all give me the balance i need. I’m feeling more and more fulfilled in my life and being a better person is a major part of my life’s journey.

THE THERMOCHIP!

BUT FIRST

How sweet are these babies 💖 they all came in with mum “Hazel” to have their 6 week check up, first vaccinations and microchipping. Such adorable babies and mum was such a good mumma, keeping a close eye on her babies. These puppies had thermochip implanted. These work the same as normal microchips. The biggest difference is the thermochip provides us with an easy, non invasive alternative to stressful re**al temperature checks. This is also great if you need to monitor a pets temperature closely or for those breeds that are prone to heat stroke. If your pet needs microchipping, thermochip is another alternative we offer.

Meet the team Monday 🐾

This week we want everyone to get to know Kristen. Kristen has been at Greystanes Vet clinic for 28 years, starting out volunteering and then being employed by Ian and Rob our previous owners and is now our amazing practice manager. Kristen is a busy mum of three and as busy as she is, she is always there with a shoulder to cry on and is someone the staff can debrief with after a tough day and a truly amazing member of our team.

1. What animals do you own?
I have Monty the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 2 cats Aurora and Maisey and a blue tongue lizard named Jack

2. What is a fun fact we should know about you?
I was an es**rt runner for the Olympic torch in 2000 for the Sydney Olympics. I really love doing puzzles and Lego.

3. What is your favourite thing?
In clinic I really enjoy speaking to clients as well as running in house blood tests and of course assisting with c-sections 💓

So a few weeks back we shared a photo of the beautiful Sally, the standard poodle who was expecting some puppies. We asked everyone to have a guess at how many pups, and we can now share with you the answer!

After a day of labouring and safely delivering 5 puppies on her own, Sally was exhausted and needed a late night intervention. Dr Anna to the rescue!!

At 11pm at night, a c-section safely delivered the last three pups bringing the total to 8.
5 healthy boys and three healthy girls all feeding off mum and doing amazingly well.

They were back home at 2am for rest and ongoing care from Sally's amazing fur parents!

We can’t wait to see these little spuds back in 6 weeks for their first vaccinations 💖
