IMPORTANT: We have recently seen as increase in cases of parvovirus. Parvo is highly contagious and can be fatal. Young dogs, dogs who are unvaccinated and dogs who have lasped vaccinations are most at risk. If you are unsure if your dog is vaccinated and up to date, please call us for advice.
If you dog has any symptoms (vomiting, diarrhoea with or without blood, lethargy) or you believe they may have parvovirus, they need immediate veterinary attention to have the best chance of recovery. As parvo is highly contagious we ask that you wait in your car on arrival at the clinic and call reception on (02) 4821 1966 and one of our nurses will come out to assist you.

H5N1 avian influenza (bird flu) has been confirmed in several wild birds on the coast of Southern Australia. This strain of bird flu has caused significant damage overseas to wild bird populations, poultry and also some wild and domestic mammals. There are currently 2 cases in NSW.

Whilst the risk of bird flu in Goulburn remains low we are still implementing extra precautions. If you are bringing in either a pet bird or sick/injured wildlife, please call the clinic (02 4821 1966) on arrival so we can bring your bird straight through into a consult room.

Additionally, STVH would like to remind everyone to avoid contact with sick or dead wild birds and to report them immediately to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
