I have recently been reflecting on where this whole journey began for me.

I now believe it began with grief.

This is Brinie, my first pet dog.

I grew up alongside hunting/working dogs but I never had a dog of my own until I was allowed to keep this guy right here.

He taught me a lot, and he got me through some really hard times growing up.

Until he became the hardest one I faced.

He ran away, got hit by a car, and didn’t survive.

At around 12-13 years old, I had just lost my best friend.

I remember trying to understand why he ran away. Did I do something wrong?

I don’t believe I truly showed anyone how much hurt I was carrying.

I’d never lost anyone before, I didn’t even understand what that heavy feeling in my chest was.

Sitting with those thoughts and feelings alone at that age took me down a dark path.

I started to get into a lot of trouble and no one really knew what to do with me.

Which lead me to the next part of my story.

You’ve tried it all.

Different equipment.

Different methods.

Different medications.

Different professionals.

Training helped moved the needle, but didn’t shift the symptoms.
