Sometimes the biggest benefits to reactive dogs is not training, counterconditioning or fancy reinforcement schedules. Many dogs have disregulated nervous systems because there is a misalignment in their own genetic make up and the environment and activities they get put in by us. Scheduled walks in the same area every day, tight restrictive controls, over stimulation from dog parks etc. These activities are generally scheduled around what is convenient for the owner rather than what is going to bring the dog the most benefit towards its mental wellness.

2 x longer nature experiences per week for your dog to explore and forrage in new outdoor natural environments might be the only thing stopping you from enjoying a calm and regulated dog.

And guess what, walks in nature also help humans to reduce stress, lower cortisol and have a more regulated nervous system. Its also a beautiful bonding experience. A shared activity that creates a sense of wellbeing.

Easy Process for Reliable Recalls!

Step 1: Hand feed your dog for a week. No food in a bowl. Handful at a time out of a treat pouch. If they lose interest the food goes away until tomorrow then try again. This builds focus and higher value to the reinforcer. The rest wont work if you dont do this exactly.

Step 2: Add the cue. Say Here or Come or even just your dogs name before each handful. This attaches a cue word to the reward

Step 3: Go to a place where your dog struggles with recall. Use the cue word. If they come they get a big handful of food. If they dont, that was thier only chance to eat that day. Dont try multiple times. They get one chance. No food at home.

Step 4: Continue step 3 until you get 100 per cent compliance. Then reward only every 2nd recall with food. The other ones earn a pat.

Step 5: Enjoy your reliable recalls.

We help you discover what works for you and your dog and then build a plan for you around it.
