💛 R U OK? Day — a simple question can make a big difference. 🐾

Today, we’re reminding everyone that checking in with someone doesn’t have to be complicated. A simple “Are you OK?” can open the door to a conversation that someone may really need.

Working in veterinary care, we know that caring for animals can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also be challenging, emotional and exhausting. So today, we’re checking in with our veterinary family, our clients, our friends and our community. 💛

And remember, you don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes, just listening is enough.

🐶 R U OK?
🐱 Ask the question.
🐾 Listen without judgement.
💛 Stay connected.

From all of us at Bundoora Veterinary Group — take care of yourself, and take a moment to check in on someone else today.

H5 BIRD FLU ALERT 🦠🐦

As you may already be aware, Australia has recently confirmed its first mainland detection of Avian Influenza H5 (bird flu). This strain is highly contagious and is considered more severe than previous avian influenza viruses detected in Australia.

At Bundoora Veterinary Clinic, we have implemented strict biosecurity protocols and staff training measures to help protect our native wildlife, backyard flocks, poultry, and pet birds from potential spread.
Our Mill Park and St Helena clinics will refer you to our main clinic in Bundoora.

If you come across a sick, injured, or deceased bird, please remember:

⚠️ Do not touch or handle the bird
🚫 Avoid direct contact
📸 Record what you observe, including the location and number of birds affected
📞 Report immediately to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888
📞 Or contact DEECA on 136 186
Or click on the following link for further information: https://forms.bio.vic.gov.au/wildlife-influenza-investigation

If you are unsure what to do, please contact our clinic for advice before attempting to move or handle the bird.

To help us maintain these safety measures, we ask that clients do not bring birds directly into the clinic without prior instruction. If you have spoken with our team and have been advised to bring a bird in for assessment, please remain in your car upon arrival and call the clinic so our staff can provide further instructions.

Early reporting and strict biosecurity measures are essential in helping protect Australia’s wildlife, domestic bird populations, and reducing the spread of disease.

Very handsome Freddy came into our GP clinic recently and was quite at home playing receptionist. Sadly for Freddy treats are not a method of payment although receptionist Ash couldn’t refuse those puppy dog begging eyes 😝🐾

🚨 CUTENESS ALERT 🚨
Meet George the most adorable little man who presented to our clinic yesterday after he possibly ate a foam ear plug 🤦🏽‍♀️ after X-rays showed no sign of the said ear plug he was sent home to be closely monitored. After getting lots of cuddles from our reception team, George left a little puddle of gratitude for them to clean up 😩😂 lucky you’re so cute George 😍😍

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums out there 💐🐾

To the human mums running on coffee, snacks, and sheer determination… and to the pet mums who somehow end up with less space in the bed than their dog or cat 😅

You know who you are…
The ones handing out snacks all day (to kids and pets),
with a camera roll full of sleeping babies, furry or otherwise,
and who are no strangers to surprise messes, chaos, and the occasional “what did you just eat?!”

You’ve mastered the art of multitasking, unconditional love, and functioning on very little sleep—whether it’s a crying baby or midnight zoomies keeping you up.

Let’s be honest… whether they have two legs or four, they all think they’re in charge.

Thank you for everything you do —for the cuddles, the patience, and the love you give every single day. We’re so lucky to care for your four-legged family members along the way.

From all of us at Bundoora Veterinary Clinic and Hospital, Happy Mother’s Day 💕🐶🐱

Microchipping your precious pets is an essential part of responsible pet ownership. What is equally important is making sure your contact details are up to date on the microchip! There is nothing we enjoy more than reuniting lost pets with their worried owners but too many times we call the number connected to the chip and it is either the breeder's number, a previous owner or an out of service number. Please make sure TODAY that all of your details and your pet's details are current and up to date. You can do this by contacting Central Animal Records either online at www.car.com.au or phone them on 9706 3187. Let your reunion with your lost pet a joyful experience for yourselves, your pet and us!
