We have two sanctuaries located in Blackett (Sydney) and Berrima (Southern Highlands). Both locations have a number of animals that have been rescued from various situations and are now permanent residents. We are not a shelter and we do not use cages or kennels. We work with a small group of volunteers who foster kittens/cats, livestock, bunnies, puppies/dogs and birds until they are healthy and

ready for their forever homes. We work closely with a few local pounds by taking in long term residents and animals struggling to cope in a pound environment and placing them in loving foster homes. A large number of our rescue animals have had an unknown past. Their age, breed and history may not be correct. We base all our information off of the previous owners papers/ information or if microchipped, the microchip information. We have all our animals checked by the professionals at one of our vet partners. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of the incredible veterinarians and staff at the below practices:

If we are at capacity and cannot accept any new surrenders we can place your animal on a waiting list or offer our assisted rehoming program. Waiting lists can take weeks to months to get through but our assisted rehoming program can be done instantly. We post the animal to our social media platforms and have interested families contact you directly. The animal must be desexed and microchipped. We ask that you please be patient while waiting for a response as we are a very small team of volunteers, although you can rest assured that we are working hard to get back to you and will respond as soon as we can.

We need two foster to adopt homes for these senior sweethearts 🤍🧡

Location - Sydney (They will be at our Sydney Hub in Bexley)

🐾 14 year old female Chihuahua x Foxy named Bella. She has lost her hearing.

🐾 12 year old male named Teddy. This sweet little man is very quiet and gentle.

Being older dogs, we’d love to avoid them having to go through any more upheaval than necessary. A warm bed, some company and someone willing to give them the love senior dogs deserve is what we’re looking for. They will both need a bit of vet work so fosters will need to visit our vet (Rossmore Vet Hospital) during the foster period.

They can be fostered together or seperate. They are coming from the same home but have not been together very long.

Sampson needs a foster! 🐾

Location - Currently at our Berrima Sanctuary but can be fostered in Sydney or The Southern Highlands

This beautiful boy is in need of a foster home for a few weeks while we get him ready for adoption. He is a 2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Cocker Spaniel. Sampson is absolutely beautiful and will thrive in a foster home who can give him lots of attention. He has a bit of separation anxiety but eventually settles if left alone. He can be a little nervous at first but warms up quick and LOVES a cuddle 🥰 He’s not the best on lead (follows his nose, pulls and loves to jump up for a hug) but after a day of lead training he has shown he can pick things up quick! He is great with kids and is honestly a very sweet little man. He previously lived with another dog and has met lots of dogs at our Berrima Sanctuary. We think he would prefer to be with an older more relaxed dog, who won’t be too in his face.

He will need to visit our vet during the foster period as he is not yet desexed. If you would like to foster this sweet boy we would love to hear from you!

We have been contacted about a beautiful girl who desperately needs a safe place to land. This poor girl was about to be shot because she has an injured foot. One of our incredible volunteers is now making a huge drive to help get this girl into our care, but we urgently need a foster home ready for her.

Has a foot injury that is being assessed, she will need to visit our vet during the foster period.

Affectionate, gentle and playful young boy with a beautiful temperament. Darcy loves being around people and is great with kids, dogs and cats. He’s energetic and would love an active home that can continue his training and give him plenty of exercise, enrichment and love. Not yet desexed but will be desexed once in our care.

Bailey – German Shepherd
5 years old, female
Beautiful, energetic and affectionate girl who loves people, playing fetch, water and getting out and about. Bailey is dog friendly and enjoys playing with dogs of a similar size. She would love an active home where she can get plenty of exercise, attention and love.

Nila – Great Dane x Bullmastiff
5 years old, female
A beautiful girl who loves being inside and spending time with her humans. Nila is kid friendly, toilet trained and walks well on lead. She can live with other dogs with slow introductions and time to warm up, but is not suited to a home with cats.

Captain is looking for his forever family 🤍

Cap is an incredibly affectionate, social boy who absolutely adores people. His favourite place in the world is curled up on someone’s lap, soaking up as many cuddles as he can get. When he’s not snuggling, you’ll find him happily zooming around the yard or tossing his favourite little plush toys into the air.

Cap would thrive in a home where he has plenty of company. He’d make a wonderful companion for someone who works from home or simply has lots of time to spend with him. He doesn’t enjoy being left alone and loves having both people and other dogs nearby.

Like any young dog, Cap is still learning. He’s making good progress with toilet training, is working on his lead manners (he just gets a little too excited to explore!) and is learning his basic obedience. His sweet nature and eagerness to be with his people makes him a lovely little dog to teach.

Hachi’s owners are relocating overseas. After speaking with their vet, they were told Hachi is not fit to undertake the long international journey. Due to his age, the vet will not sign the health certificate required for travel, believing the trip would place too much stress on him. Rather than risk his safety, his owner has made the difficult decision to surrender him.

Hachi is a gentle, affectionate boy who enjoys his daily walks, has a great appetite and simply loves being around people. He’s beginning to slow down as expected with age, but he still has so much love to give.

Assisted Rehoming for Nala 😍

Nala is a beautiful, active girl who is happiest when she’s spending quality time with her people or heading out for adventures. She loves a trip to the beach and is all about fetching a ball or stick. At the end of the day, she’s just as happy curling up on the couch for a quiet night in.

She walks beautifully on lead and is relaxed around other dogs when out and about. She has a Greyhound friend she enjoys spending time with and has previously joined group pack walks. While she is great with other dogs on lead, she likes her personal space and much prefers human connections. She would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can enjoy all the love and attention to herself.

Nala has grown up living with young children and is happy spending time with them playing in the yard. However, there have been two isolated occasions where she became uncomfortable and showed concerning behaviour towards the kids. One occurred while she was experiencing an ear infection and was touched unexpectedly and the other may also have been related to discomfort. To give Nala the best chance of success, we feel she would be happiest in a calm, adult only home (or with kids that are older) so she can feel safe and relaxed.

Henry is a handsome, energetic boy with so much love to give. At 6 years old he’s still full of life and loves nothing more than playing fetch, running around the park, visiting the beach and spending time with his people. He has a friendly nature, enjoys the company of other dogs and is always up for an adventure. Henry is great with kids of all ages and wouldn’t mind a home with little ones.

Like most Cattle Dogs, Henry thrives when he has both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He would love a home with an active family or someone with a property where he can explore and be included in daily life. He’s an intelligent boy who can become bored if he doesn’t have enough to do, so an engaging lifestyle would suit him perfectly. He has been much loved since he was a puppy and is now looking for a home where he can continue to live a happy, active life.

Many of you will already know Amy and her two fur children Benny & Tilly. She has recently launched her own business, Southern Highlands Dog Walking & Pet Care Co, bringing with her a decade of experience and a genuine love for animals 🥰 We couldn’t think of a better person to join the Green Paws family.

So if you’ve been thinking about daycare, now’s the perfect time to book your pup in! We have a few casual spots each day but priority goes to our permanents who come week to week. Every boarding and daycare booking helps us continue rescuing dogs in need 💚
