🧡 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL GINGER CAT DAY! 🧡

Today we celebrate the marmalades, the gingers, the orange braincells, the tiny lions with big attitudes!

Ginger cats are 80% male, 100% chaos, and 200% love.

They are:
✨ The loudest purrs
✨ The biggest personalities
✨ The best biscuit makers
✨ Professional sunbathers
✨ Full-time food critics

Whether they are light cream, deep marmalade, or full Garfield-orange — gingers steal your couch, your heart, and your sanity... and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Our gingers have taught us that love is LOUD, love is ORANGE, and love is a little bit naughty.

PLEASE READ - A HARD TRUTH ABOUT RESCUE

At Mc Kitty Cat Rescue, we believe in *Quality Rescue over Quantity Rescue.*

And that means we need to talk about a dangerous practice we are seeing far too often with other rescues:

Mixing litters without testing or quarantine

This is NOT rescue. This is recklessness.

Here is what responsible rescue looks like, and what we will ALWAYS do:

1. From Day One: Vet Check. No Exceptions.

The day a kitten comes into our care, it goes for a full veterinary assessment. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Immediately.

That assessment includes testing for FIV and FeLV, a thorough health check, and if they are big and healthy enough - their first set of vaccinations and deworming

2. NO Mixing of Litters. Ever.

Do not mix litters. Especially when you do not know their history.

It takes ONE sick kitten to wipe out an entire group of healthy kittens. One undetected virus, one case of Panleukopenia, Calicivirus, or Ringworm, and what could have been one sick kitten becomes ten dead kittens.

3. Quarantine is NOT Optional.

Every single new kitten taken in must be quarantined. For a minimum of 14 to 21 days.

This is non-negotiable. This is the incubation period for many deadly viruses. If you skip this, you are gambling with lives.

We have seen cases where kittens are brought into foster and immediately placed with a lactating mommy with zero health history done. Now, instead of one sick kitten, you have a sick momma, her own vulnerable babies sick, and the new kittens sick. One shortcut created a catastrophe.

4. Fosters Must Be Properly Vetted.

Not everyone can foster, and that's okay. We must ask:

Are you capable of bottle-feeding neonates every 2 hours?
Do you know what Fading Kitten Syndrome is and what to do?
Do you have a separate, quarantined space?
Do you understand cross-contamination?
Do you have the funds if these kittens should get sick?

Sending a critical kitten to an unprepared foster is setting them both up to fail.

Rescue is NOT a numbers game. It is NOT about who can take in the most kittens.

We as rescues NEED to rescue responsibly - no shortcuts to be taken.

If we cannot afford to test, to vet check, to vaccinate, to quarantine - then we cannot afford to take that kitten in. And that is a hard but honest truth.

In rescue, we either do it right, and for the right reasons, or there is no point in rescuing at all.

We will always choose to save fewer lives, the RIGHT way, than to put many lives at risk by doing it the wrong way.

Thank you to the like minded fosters and supporters who understand and uphold this standard.

This is how we protect our residents, and every other precious soul entrusted to us.

Layla Update

This little one has completely stolen my heart and chosen me as her person

She loves to be brushed and purrs so loudly, she jumps up my leg and meows for me to give her lovies and then quite happily settles on my chest for snuggles

Layla will be sterilised next month and I will keep you up to date on her progress then 💜

Dory Update

This beautiful little girl is doing so well

She is gaining weight like an absolute champ, she had a few solid stools but unfortunately her tummy is running again - we are however on the right track and sometimes tummy issues take a while to resolve while the gut lining heals

Dory loves being on my hubby's shoulder and supervises him washing the dishes

I will keep sending updates on her progress 💜

ADOPTION ALERT Gigi and Jax

5 years old
Vaccination up to date (they are due at the end of July, but I will do that/cover costs if they find a home before then)
Defleaing and deworming up to date (also due end of July)
Both sterilized
Bonded pair. Brother and sister. Prefer a home without dogs.

Gigi: she is sassy but loving. She is tolerant and patient. She keeps an eye out for the kids and often goes walking with them. Will often go to them when crying. She loves food.

Jax: vocal boy, will meow when coming in. Playful. He loves men. Will often lie on my husband lap when he is working on the computer. He is hunter.

Unfortunately their family are emigrating and these two domestic short hairs have been denied access into the country as they consider their markings to be those of bengals

The family is devastated and desperately looking for a home that will take both together as they are a bonded pair

If you'd like to adopt them please what's app me on 0672043391

Strict physical home checks, adoption fees and adoption processes apply
