URGENT APPEAL FOR MONETARY DONATIONS | HELP US KEEP OUR DOORS OPEN FOR THE ANIMALS WHO NEED US

The Tshwane SPCA is urgently appealing to the public for monetary donations to help us keep our doors open for the animals who need us.

We do not receive government grants, and we do not make a profit from adoptions. Every animal that comes into our care needs food, shelter, medical checks, medication where needed, love, safety and daily care until they are adopted.

Our kennels are full, but we cannot simply turn animals away. Every abandoned, neglected, abused, injured or unwanted animal still deserves somewhere safe to go. They deserve a nourish meal, a clean kennel, medical attention and the chance to be loved.

Behind every animal in our care is a cost. Food, medicine, veterinary supplies, cleaning products, electricity, water, fuel, municipal accounts and staff salaries all form part of what it takes to keep the Tshwane SPCA running every single day.

It costs approximately R500 000 per month for the Tshwane SPCA to keep our doors open and cover our essential expenses.

Our Inspectors are also on the road daily, responding to cruelty complaints, rescuing animals in distress and investigating cases where animals have no voice. With the continued rise in fuel prices, these life-saving trips have become even more costly, but they remain absolutely necessary.

We are asking, from the bottom of our hearts, for your help.

Every monetary donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Your contribution helps feed a hungry animal, buy much-needed essentials, keep an Inspector on the road and keep our kennels open for the next animal in need.

Because if we close, where will the animals go?

The animals need us.

And right now, we need you.

Pet Photography | How to Take the Perfect Shot

Taking photos of people can be easy, but photographing dogs can be a real challenge.

You first need to get their attention, often by using squeaky toys that make a sound so they will look at the camera. Sometimes they are not interested at all, and then you have to try to encourage them with treats as a little reward.

Many of the dogs are scared of leashes, or they pull on the leash, which makes it even harder to capture that perfect shot. Others are simply so happy to be out of their kennels that they become very excited and energetic.

You often get many blurry photos before you finally capture the perfect one. Patience is definitely the key.

Here is a little behind-the-scenes look at our photoshoot that took place on Thursday at the Tshwane SPCA.

Give Them a Safe Place to Wait for Love | Sponsor a Kennel for Only R200 per Month

The Tshwane SPCA has a very special Kennel Sponsorship Project, giving members of the public and businesses the opportunity to sponsor a kennel for only R200 per month.

Every day, animals arrive at our kennels needing shelter, food, warmth, safety and care. Some have been abandoned. Some have been neglected. Some are lost, frightened or simply waiting for someone to give them a second chance.

By sponsoring a kennel, you are helping us keep that safe space open for an animal in need. Our stray block is where we keep animals according the law for the seven days, if a animals is groomed and we can see it’s been taken good care off we keep them longer. This is a expense we do not have control over but essential.

Your monthly sponsorship will assist with the ongoing care of the animals housed in our kennels, including food, bedding, cleaning, basic care and the daily costs needed to keep the kennel available for the next animal who comes through our doors.

As a token of our appreciation, each individual or business that sponsors a kennel can receive a name board, plaque displayed at the kennel or an 18A. This will recognise your kindness and generosity, while also offering valuable exposure for your business and showing your commitment to animal welfare.

By sponsoring a kennel, you are not just giving money.

You are giving an animal a safe place to sleep.
You are helping us keep that kennel open for the next animal in need.
You are giving hope to a life that may have been forgotten.
You are becoming part of their journey while they wait for love, healing and a forever home.

Form as little as only R200 per month, you can make a real difference.

You can help us provide shelter, safety and a second chance to an animal who has nowhere else to go.

To sponsor a kennel and arrange a debit order with your bank, or please contact our Chairperson at:

Please help us keep our kennels open.

Because every animal deserves somewhere safe to wait for love.
