Fun Fact Friday: Why Does Your Cat “Make Biscuits”? 🐾

Ever caught your cat rhythmically pressing their paws into a blanket, cushion… or even you?

This adorable little habit is called kneading, but most cat lovers know it as “making biscuits.”

It starts when they’re kittens, when kneading their mother helps stimulate milk flow. Many cats carry the behaviour into adulthood because it’s associated with feeling comfortable, safe and relaxed.

So when your cat starts preparing an imaginary batch of biscuits on your favourite blanket, take it as a compliment. You’ve created a pretty cosy spot. 🤍

👂🐶 LET’S TALK ABOUT DOGGY EAR INFECTIONS!

Did you know that ear infections are one of the most common problems dogs can experience? 🐶👂

Here are a few signs every pet parent should look out for:

🐾 Frequent head shaking
🐾 Scratching or rubbing the ears
🐾 Redness or swelling
🐾 Unpleasant smell coming from the ear
🐾 Dark or unusual discharge
🐾 Sensitivity or discomfort when the ears are touched

💡 FUN FACT: Dogs with floppy ears or lots of hair around their ears can be more prone to ear problems because moisture and warmth can get trapped inside. 💕

🛁 At Pika’s Pets, we always keep an eye on your fur baby’s ears during grooming and can let you know if we notice anything unusual.

⚠️ Important: Grooming can help keep the ears clean, but a suspected ear infection needs to be assessed and treated by a veterinarian. Never put medication or cleaning products into an irritated ear unless your vet recommends it.
