◦ Because, I enjoy working with the animals and I feel happy doing it.

• A dog person

It’s time to meet the people behind Pretoria Noord Dierekliniek! ❤️🐶🐱

The last one for met the team series is Sr Yolanda ! Get to know her a little better with our fun Meet the Team questions:

1. 🩺 What is your role at the company?
◦ I am a Veterinary Nurse - I help care for your pets before, during and after their procedures. I assist the vets and make sure all our patients are comfortable, safe and loved while they are with us.

2. 🐾 How long have you been part of the family?
◦ I started working part-time at this practice in 2012, and for the past 9 years I have been part of the family full-time.

3. ❤️ Why did you choose this career?
• I have had a passion for animals since I was a little girl, so this career was a natural choice for me.

4. 🐶 Dog or cat person?
• Both! I love them all. Every pet has its own special personality and I love them all the same.

5. 😂 What is the funniest thing an animal has done at the practice?
• There have been quite a few comical moments!
The most recent one was when I was holding a little dog who was very unwilling to stand still for a re**al exam. Right after the exam, he had explosive, projectile diarrhea that sprayed across the floor, hit Dr Zilia, and then finished with a run down my leg.

6. ☕ What’s your go-to snack and drink?
• Chocolate - honestly, I love anything sweet!

7. ⏰ Who is most likely to be late?
• I can't point a finger at anyone else - sometimes it's me! I sometimes arrive just in time before the gate opens.

8. 🎉 What do you like to do in your free time?
• I love reading and playing with my dog.

9. 🤫 What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
• I can handle blood and projectile diarrhea like a pro, but after all this time, I still don't like enucleations (eye removals)!

10. 🥰 What is one thing you love about being part of the team?
• What I love most is that we're like a little family. I love that no matter how crazy the day gets, we always work together.

◦ 5 years

3. ❤️ Why did you choose this career?
• 🤔 to work with animals and not people 🤣🤣 guess what the job is 80% working with people!

4. 🐶 Dog or cat person?
• Puppies and kittens, anything fluffy that doesn't bite or scratch ... ye

5. 😂 What is the funniest thing an animal has done at the practice?
• I can't think of a specific animal incident at the moment however getting home and emptying my pocket full of dog toenails alongside my half eaten chocolate has happened on more than one occasion!

6. ☕ What’s your go-to snack and drink?
• Sweet pastries or tarts and fake coffee and. energy drinks (without caffeine) - it's all in the. mind.

7. ⏰ Who is most likely to be late?
• ummmm...me🙈

8. 🎉 What do you like to do in your free time?
• What free time, I have 2 teenagers!)Sleep🤣... I enjoy reading novels and used to craft and oil paint a bit.

9. 🤫 What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
• umm I am pretty much an open book nothing surprising. I have however inherited a dry witty British sense of humour 🙈

10. 🥰 What is one thing you love about being part of the team?
• Precisely that, 'This team' we all have our strengths and weaknesses but consult together on almost everything which in combination makes us a formidable team!

🐶💔 PAIN IN DOGS: THEY CAN’T TELL US, BUT THEY CAN SHOW US

Dogs are experts at hiding pain. Sometimes the signs can be subtle, and what looks like a simple change in behaviour could be your dog telling you that something isn’t right.

🐾 Watch out for signs such as:
• Limping or stiffness
• Difficulty getting up, sitting or climbing stairs
• Whining, crying or unusual vocalisation
• Panting when they’re not hot or exercising
• Hiding or becoming less social
• Loss of appetite
• Restlessness or struggling to get comfortable
• Excessive licking of a particular area
• Becoming unusually irritable or aggressive
• Sleeping more or showing less interest in normal activities

❤️ Know your dog. If their behaviour changes or you suspect they may be in pain, don’t wait for it to become an emergency.

🩺 Our veterinary team can help identify the cause of the pain and recommend appropriate treatment.

⚠️ Never give your dog human pain medication unless specifically instructed by a veterinarian. Some medications that are safe for humans can be dangerous or even life-threatening to pets.
If your furry friend isn’t acting like themselves, rather get them checked. 🐾

Today I just want to say thank you for everything you do — not only the things that are part of your job, but all the little things that often go unnoticed.

Thank you for making the coffee ☕, answering the phone (again and again! 😅), answering a million questions every day, keeping track of everything, and somehow managing to keep calm when the rest of us are running around like headless chickens!

Thank you for being the soft landing between us and our clients — especially when things get difficult. You deal with upset, demanding and sometimes difficult clients with a patience and professionalism that I truly appreciate.

You are often the person who has to absorb the frustration, find the answers, keep everyone informed and still greet the next person with a smile. That is not easy.

And behind all of that, you help keep the practice running. You make our days easier, our clients feel heard, and our patients get the care they need.

We genuinely couldn't do it without you. ❤️

Thank you for your hard work, your patience, your kindness, your humour, and for keeping your cool through all the chaos!
