🐾 Bella's Second Coaching Appointment!

Bella is quite a nervous girl, but with her family involved in her appointments, she was already calmer at her first session. Today, at her second appointment, she seemed even more relaxed and comfortable.

Every dog is different, and we're enjoying seeing Bella's progress as we continue working with her and her family.

Well done, Bella! And a big well done to her little brother too, who has been helping with the washing and drying!

Okay, so we have a little confession... 😅

Our Coaching sessions have been going so well that we've been so focused on the dogs, their humans and the actual coaching that we completely forgot about taking photos and sharing updates! 🙈

So, while this isn't our first Coaching client, it is our very first Coaching photo! 🎉🐶

🐾 Meet Nugget! 🐾💛

We'd like to introduce you to Nugget, our very first Recovery patient at Canine Care & Wellness Centre!
Nugget recently had abdominal surgery, and while he recovers, he's spending his days with us while his family is at work. Our job is to help make sure he's comfortable, calm and supervised while he heals, and to help prevent him from doing too much and putting those stitches at risk.

So far, Nugget has been settling in beautifully and has already made himself quite at home. 🥹💛 As you can see, recovery is serious business... but apparently, having your favourite toy close by is equally important! 🧸🐶

Having our very first Recovery patient with us feels incredibly special. Seeing this part of Canine Care & Wellness Centre come to life and being able to support Nugget and his family during his recovery is exactly why we created our Recovery Suites. 🐾💛

Please give a warm CCWC welcome to our sweet recovery superstar, Nugget! 🥰

🌿 Introducing our Outdoor Care Spaces

At CCWC, our outdoor spaces are an extension of the care we provide, giving dogs more freedom and movement when their individual needs allow it.

🐾 Small Dog Social Lounge

Primarily used as a step-up space for small dogs moving on from our Recovery Suites, when they are ready for more gentle movement and freedom.

It also provides supervised daytime care for calm, small dogs, including senior and special-needs dogs, who benefit from a quieter environment.

The focus is on care, comfort and supervision, with different spaces where dogs can rest, move and settle at their own pace.

🐕 Big Camps

Our larger outdoor camps provide a supervised environment for bigger dogs who don't require the confinement of a Recovery Suite but still need to be monitored during the day.

Some dogs may step up from a Recovery Suite, while others can go directly into the camp because they have no movement restrictions but still need care and supervision.

The Big Camps are also equipped with CCTV monitoring, allowing us to keep an eye on the dogs throughout the day.

We've made the outdoor spaces practical as well as comfortable, with surfaces that can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between our visitors.

We're putting the last few little finishing touches in place and are excited to start our soft opening on Monday, 24 August with a few clients while we settle into our new routines.

Then, on Monday, 31 August, CCWC officially opens its doors.

We're very excited to finally start using these spaces for the dogs they're designed for.

RECOVERY SUITES 🐾

YOUR DOG HAS JUST HAD SURGERY.

Your veterinarian has done the procedure, your dog has been discharged, and you've been given instructions for the days ahead.

Keep him quiet.
Don't let her run.
Medication during the day.
Keep an eye on those stitches.

And then Monday morning arrives...

You have to go to work.

So what do you do with your dog?

This is exactly why I built the CCWC Recovery Suites.

A safe, calm place for sick, injured and recovering dogs to spend the day while their owners are at work.

Daytime recovery care.

You bring us your veterinary instructions, and we follow them while your dog is with us.

That might mean medication, restricted movement, wound checks, assisted toileting, or simply making sure they don't overdo things while you're at work.

I THOUGHT ABOUT THE WHOLE DAY.

Comfort: 15 mm cushioned non-slip flooring, orthopaedic bedding and raised water bowls.

Peace: Privacy curtains and heartbeat comfort plush toys for nervous dogs.

Something to do: Interactive and puzzle toys for appropriate mental stimulation while they rest.

Someone watching: CCTV throughout the day, with our receptionist at reception keeping an eye on the suites.

And we keep track: Individual recovery records covering their care, medication, appetite, toileting, mobility, wounds, behaviour and anything else we notice.

Because recovery isn't just about keeping a dog still.

It's about keeping them comfortable, safe and settled while they heal.

And at the end of the day, they go home.

The Recovery Suites are for dogs who have been discharged by their veterinary practice and need additional care, supervision or restricted activity during the day.

And if your dog doesn't need quite this level of confinement, there are other CCWC options too.

We'll be introducing those soon.
