TGIFF (thank god it’s foster Friday)!!!😻

Jack and Paprika, meet Internet. Internet, meet Jack and Paprika. šŸ¤

I can’t get over how CUTE this brother-sister pair is! These two are a bit timid at first, but once they warm up they are the definition of classic kittens. So lovey, so playful, so friendly, so sweet! 🧔

Jack and Paprika will need to be adopted together: preferably to a forever home without young children as they do better in a quiet and calm environment.

Best part: these two babies will be at the shelter this weekend (along with a few other kittens 🤭)! But don’t hold it against them if they are a bit reserved.

Jack and Paprika love a calm environment and are accustomed to their foster home, so being surrounded by so many people and noises and cats may be a lot for them to handle. But we can assure you once they are comfortable and home, they turn into the sweetest little besties šŸ„¹ā¤ļø

Come see this dynamic duo this weekend: Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 3pm ā°šŸ‚

Feline fans; I am passing on a very important message from our cat intake coordinator.

With the consistent cold nights beginning and the change of seasons, our already high number of requests for help have started to rise.

Here’s the reality: we are busy as can be with rescue and have a long wait list for cats to take in, and we cannot always help as soon as some would like us to.

If you are reaching out for rescue help, PLEASE be patient with us. Of course we want to help, that’s the name of the game! But we can only go as far as our resources, funding, and shelter space allow us to. And right now, we have a lot of cats that need us in-shelter.

We know some situations are unexpected, but if you are able to plan ahead with a need for rescue, please do so. Inquiries for rescue help must be directed to [email protected] to be put on the waitlist.

Don’t wait for the devastating event before reaching out…because truth be told, we don’t always have the capacity or funds for immediate rescue. Get them on the waitlist before something happens; before they get hurt, before they disappear, before they are cold, before they get sick, or before they get pregnant and one rescue turns into 6.

This year continues to be an exceptionally difficult one in rescue, but there are ways you can help us this season if you are able:

āž”ļøDonate: Donations primarily go toward our medical expenses. And the quicker cats are vetted and cleared for adoptions; the quicker cages become available for the next kitty on the list. Our Donorbox link can be found here: https://donorbox.org/connecticut-cat-connection-fund

āž”ļøFoster: You’ve heard it before, but it’s true. Fostering is one of the strongest tools we use. With foster, a cat is safe inside: being socialized, fed, and loved. While this is happening, another cage becomes open for a different cat to join the CCC crew. Two cats saved because of one selfless act.

āž”ļøAdopt: If you’re in a position to adopt and you feel ready, what are you waiting for!? We are at capacity with so many cats ready to go home and become a part of your family!

Thank you for your unwavering support and your understanding as we navigate another upcoming cold season in animal rescue.

As a reminder, social media does not aid in the intake or rescue process. Requests for rescue help MUST be directed to [email protected]

It’s Foster Friday x6!!

What’s better than a sunny week in summer? Cats named after such a beautiful time, that’s what!

Meet the fam: July and her 5 Weekday kittensā˜€ļø

July is a teeny tiny mama: a soft-hearted icon. She’ll make you work for her love with the occasional little hiss and setting her boundaries here and there, but once you’re in, you’re IN. Perfect temperament, one year old, quiet, belly rub aficionado, cat-friendly, loyal. July is a nervous gal when moving environments (really: aren’t we all šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø), and tends to get an upset tummy when there is a lot of change. You know how your tummy feels after you fly āœˆļøšŸ˜³

Now, onto the babies ā¤ļø

Monday. No correlation to the way that workday makes you feel šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø In fact, you simply cannot get enough of Monday! Sweet boy Monday is all love, no brakes. He loves to be by your side at all times and is always at the ready for a belly rub. Monday’s least favorite thing is sharing his food…but then again, I don’t like when someone steals my fries either šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Tuesday the underdog: don’t let her size fool you. She will jump into any wrestling match between the siblings and often wins! Girl power!šŸŽ€ The reigning champ of being Tiny but Mighty. Tuesday is a versatile girl, who loves to play and flex her muscles, but also loves one-on-one time with her person.

Wednesday is soooo go with the flow. Give him some food and a belly rub, and this guy is content. Seriously, if he could talk he’d be asking for food. All the time. When it’s not food, it’s snuggling up and sharing a quiet moment.

Thursday is like if the energizer bunny had a long tail instead of a puff ball. He’s go go go! Thursday will play until his tank is on empty, and then at that point he’ll kick anyone out of your lap to take their place. Jealous little fella 🤭

Friday: relaxed, calm, fun. Oh, I mean the cat not the day! Friday is a graceful little princess but engages in play when she feels the others are worthy of her time šŸ‘‘ She’d much rather be cuddled up to her person, though. A precious little gal.

All of July’s kittens have similarities: they all have amazing personalities and they all have gastrointestinal issues as a result of an illness they had when they were younger. For the foreseeable future, these little ones rely on digestion-focused food in order to keep things…regular šŸ’© Their digestive troubles may improve, but we cannot guarantee that and recommend keeping them on their current diet and following your vet’s suggestions for their diet once you get them home.

So what do you think? Do you need a new tiger cat…or two…or six?? šŸ˜‰

It’s Black Cat Awareness Month! So let us make you a little more aware of their lore while they enjoy some pumpkin Purr Pops to celebrate!šŸˆā€ā¬›šŸŽƒ

Black cats have always had a wide range of cultural symbolism. Ancient Egyptians and Japan see black cats as lucky, and British sailors believed that black cats brought good fortune and ensured safe travels. But medieval Europe deemed them as bad luck, and associated them with witchcraft and the devil.

These superstitions are what have led to far lower adoption rates for black cats than other fur colors. They get a bad rep from nothing more than a few old wise tails that stuck around way longer than needed.

However, the reality of owning a black cat is: you'll have an amazing companion with their very own personality! And you'll definitely feel lucky to have themšŸ€

How fun is this!! 🄹

Last week, we posted Blizzard: a once tough-guy tomcat who arrived pretty sick but has turned into a mushy fluff of love.

And over the weekend, one of those feel-good, perfect-timing moments happened. A couple came in for KittenPalooza, and while poking around, they saw his silly little bangs and recognized him instantly: Blizzard is a cat they used to feed in their neighborhood that just disappeared one day. They never knew what happened to him and assumed the worst since his eyesight was so poor from infection, but serendipity was on everyone’s side that day, and they get to see he had a soft place to land after all.

Sometimes life gives you that perfect moment that reminds you the world is still good, people do care, and closure feels sooo awesome šŸ˜Ž

Blizzard is still here looking for an even softer place to land and live out his days as an indoor, retired tomcat now šŸ«¶šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø

Feels like DƩjƠ vu, since I just posted him last week: but you know where to find him, and the rest of the gang this weekend. Saturday and Sunday 12-3.

Who knows, maybe you’ll recognize some faces, too šŸ¤”

Our Friday foster feature is a gooood one so buckle up because we have so much to say and can’t get enough! Meet four-month-old Benedict, or ✨Beni✨ as he is lovingly called 🄰

Determined. Adventurous. Voracious Eater (please see picture for proof 🤭). These are some words Beni’s foster uses to describe him. Because here’s his thing: Beni was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), or ā€œWobbly Cat Syndrome.ā€ While we don’t come across kitties with CH too often, we can say that every time we do, they steal our hearts. Really: Every. Single. Time.

CH is a neurological disorder that affects Beni’s balance and ability to walk, leaving him a bit uncoordinated and awkward. This disorder does NOT worsen over time, nor is it contagious or painful. If you ask Beni, all is well šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø He’s just living life with a bit more padding is all.

He has difficulty judging depth at the moment, and runs into the occasional object thinking it is farther than it really is, which leaves you cooing ā€œoooh nooo!ā€ and pulling him in for a snuggle. Sometimes I wonder if it’s a trick to get more smooches and snuggles šŸ¤” This quirk should improve over time as Beni explores and runs around more (okay well… ā€œrunā€ is a bit exaggerated 🤭🤭).

While his foster is working very closely with him on conquering stairs, she is finding that they are certainly not Beni’s strong suit. With that, Beni will need to be in a home where all of his arrangements are on one floor, and he does not have access to stairs in order to avoid accidents or injuries. As long as he has a soft ramp or cushioned steps, the couch and bed are a go, though! 🄰

Honestly, we’re unsure if Beni is a little orange piggy or a kitten: because he eats like a little MESS. Wears half, eats half, you know the deal. Benni wiggles and wobbles when he eats and when he uses the litter box (yes, he’s trained!); so while he can accomplish these tasks, he may need some help with clean up afterwards.

Beni loves to play, of course he does…not only is he a kitten, but he’s an orange kitten šŸ˜† This little guy will have you rolling around giggling while he is rolling around trying to catch a toy.

He loves the companionship of other cats and tries to engage in play, but we have to recommend a cat that does not play rough so he can keep up SAFELY. And at the end of it all, this little orange ball of fire is happy to snuggle up with you to recharge.

Beni’s got his quirks, but what he has most of all is a drive to keep going, the charm to melt your heart into a puddle, and fuzzy orange fur that needs a wet cloth here and there. Beni has stolen so many hearts, and that’s just the beginning, because we know he’s going to steal so many more in his lifetime🧔

CH sounds scary, but no need to fear! It is extremely manageable, and Beni’s case is mild to moderate. Beni’s foster is more than happy to answer any questions on his specific case and how it will effect him, but general information on CH can be found here: https://www.thenoahcenter.org/2022/09/28/ch-cats/

Beni will be available for adoption starting on October 13th, so be sure to fill out an application asap and set up a meet and greet: we have a good feeling about this little guy šŸ˜‰

Hello everyone my name is Big Bro Cacio and the social media lady doesn’t know I took her phone and hacked into the social media, don’t tell her! But it’s really me🤭

Anyway, you guys gotta STOP overlooking me on adoption days!! You’re making me sad 😢 I mean just LOOK at me, I’m ADORABLE. I am cuddly and sweet and I am very demanding of pets. If you stop I will grab your arm to pull you back in; I can’t get enough!

I just hate all the hustle and bustle on adoption days, it’s a bit overwhelming for me so I hang back. Once you get to know the real me though, you’d love it 🄺

I’m a year and a half old, I get along with other kitties with a nice easy intro, and l can be held. I’m a real catch if you ask me 🄰

So if you want me, and you know you do, fill out an application and get me out of here!!!
