Hi there — I'm Barbie, a 5-year-old grey and white domestic medium hair with a big heart! 🐱 Right now, I'm focused on my three adorable kittens and being the nurturing mama they need, but I'm also adventurous and friendly when I'm not in mom-mode. Once my babies are weaned and ready for their own homes, I'll be spayed and available for adoption. When a kitten grows up without littermates, they miss out on some of the most important lessons of early life. Siblings teach each other how hard is too hard when biting, how to play without hurting, how to share space, and how to handle frustration. These skills don’t magically appear they’re learned through constant interaction with other kittens.

When a kitten is raised alone, they often become overstimulated easily because they never learned how to regulate their energy. They may nip, scratch, cry for attention, or become frustrated quickly. None of this means the kitten is “bad.” It simply means they didn’t get the social development they needed.

Adopting kittens in pairs helps prevent Single Kitten Syndrome. Two kittens teach each other manners, burn off energy together, and grow into confident, well‑adjusted adult cats. They’re happier, healthier, and far less likely to develop behavioral challenges later in life.

If you’re thinking about adopting a kitten, consider giving them a buddy. It’s one of the kindest choices you can make for their future.

Maine and Maryland are two sisters with a bond you can’t break. Maine is the confident, outgoing girl who loves everyone she meets. Maryland is her gentle, shy sister who feels safest with Maine by her side.

Before coming to Animal Harbor, they went through a lot together and that’s exactly why they rely on each other now. Maryland even tried an amazing home recently, but without Maine, she couldn’t settle in or relax. The moment they reunited, she was herself again.

These girls aren’t just bonded; they truly need each other. Maine gives Maryland courage, and Maryland gives Maine purpose.

They’re looking for a kind, patient adopter willing to welcome both sisters into their heart and home. In return, you’ll get double the love, double the loyalty, and the joy of giving two deserving girls the fresh start they’ve been waiting for.
