🐾 Meet Ruby! 🐾 (Adoption fee is waived)

Ruby is a 3-year-old, 67-pound Pit Bull Terrier with a friendly personality and plenty of enthusiasm for life! This affectionate, playful girl is social with new people and always ready for attention, activity, and fun.

Ruby enjoys treats, toys, balls, stuffed toys, tug games, walks, and taking her time to sniff and explore. After the fun is over, she is also happy to settle in for some cuddles!

Ruby appears to be house-trained and is still working on her leash skills, as she currently pulls moderately during walks. With regular exercise, consistency, and positive reinforcement, she should make a fun and loving companion.

Ruby came to us as a stray, so we do not know how she has previously lived with dogs, cats, or children. If you have any current dogs, a meet-and-greet is required to make sure they are a good fit.

The Humane Society of Carroll County will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8.

Although the shelter will be closed to the public, staff will be on-site throughout the day to feed, clean, provide medications, and ensure every animal receives the care they need.

Animal Control will respond to emergencies only.

Yard sale donations may still be dropped off on the tables marked “Yard Sale Donations” under the tent and pavilion behind our building. All other donations may be placed on the loading dock behind the building.

🐾 Senior Dog Dream Needs Our Help 🐾

At 9 years old, Dream deserves a quiet, comfortable place to spend her golden years. Unfortunately, the noise and activity of the shelter are becoming too much for this sweet senior girl.

Dream is looking for an adopter, foster home, or rescue placement where she can relax, enjoy soft beds, and receive the individual attention she needs. She would do best in a calm home where she can be the only pet.

Dream’s adoption fee is waived. If adoption isn’t possible, fostering her would still give her a much-needed break from the shelter while we continue searching for her forever home.

Roll out your mat and join us for a fun, feel-good yoga session with a group of our adorable puppies.

Saturday, September 19, 2026
10–11 a.m. or 12–1 p.m.
$25 per person

Puppy Yoga will be held at Wakefield Valley Event Center & Park. Bring your own yoga mat and get ready to stretch, smile, and meet some new furry friends.

Summer vacation may be over, but our shelter pets still need a getaway! 🐾

FOSTERS NEEDED

Opening your home to a foster pet gives them a break from the shelter, a comfortable place to relax, and the chance to show off their personality in a home environment. Whether you can foster for a short stay or a little longer, you can make a meaningful difference!

HSCC provides the supplies and medical care—you provide the safe place and love. Foster homes should be located within one hour of our Westminster shelter and be able to return their foster animal for appointments and meet-and-greets (as scheduled with you).

🐾 Fawn Needs Our Help—103 Days Is Too Long 🐾

Fawn has been at the shelter for 103 days, and we cannot understand why this sweet girl keeps getting overlooked.

At 3 years old and 54 pounds, Fawn is an affectionate, playful, and active Pit Bull Terrier who loves people, treats, toys, tug games, and walks. She is confident, curious, and always ready to spend time with her favorite people.

Fawn has been participating in our Leading Paws training program, working one-on-one with trained volunteers through structured, positive-reinforcement training. She has made excellent progress with jumping, mouthing, leash biting, and impulse control. She also knows sit, down, paw, stay, wait, leave it, and drop it!

If you have any current dogs, a meet-and-greet is required to make sure they are a good fit. A home without cats is recommended, and she would be best suited for an experienced adopter with older children who can continue her positive training.

❤️ Fawn’s adoption fee is waived.

Join us Saturday, September 19, for our chip-timed 5K Fun Run or 1-Mile Leash-urely Walk at Wakefield Valley Event Center & Park.

Registration for the 5K is $55 and includes a commemorative finisher medal and event T-shirt. The first 100 participants can register for just $45, so don’t miss the early bird discount. Registration increases to $65 on September 1.

Bring your dog or participate on your own. All breeds and ability levels are welcome.
