WWAS Pets This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.

WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay

, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

Football season, back to school and cooler weather are all upon us and that means lots of outdoor activities, tailgating, parties , etc. Remember to drop off your aluminum cans ( please no cat food cans--we don't get any money for them) at the red trailer in the Tractor Supply parking lot. All the cans benefit the Animal Shelter.

Caturday Saturday!!!
Hendrix and Bella are two of the ten cats that came to us when their owner unexpectedly passed away. They seem to need each other while they are adjusting to the shelter, so we need for them to be adopted together. We have extended out reduced adoption fees, so their fee is $70 for the pair. There were two dogs in the family , so these kitties are used to other cats and dogs. Please consider helping these two buddies get out of the shelter and back into a home.

Ricky is a six-year-old English Bulldog/Boxer mix with the sweetest, most gentle soul. He is loving, kind, low-energy, and absolutely adores children. Ricky isn’t asking for much—just a comfortable place to nap, a family to love, and plenty of affection. 💙

Ricky is neutered, heartworm negative, and has received his rabies vaccine. Now all he needs is someone to give him the forever home he deserves!

FIND A HOME FRIDAY!!!
Ricky had a trip to the square, but didn't stay long because of the heat. If you are looking for a very sweet, loving boy who doesn't want much in the way of exercising, Ricky is the one❤ He isn't concerned with running or trotting or jumping or zoomies, just a nice slow paced walk and then back inside to a couch or soft bed for a nap. He proudly wears his UGA bandana (GO DAWGS) and will gladly let you put sunglasses on him, a hat, paint his toes or whatever you want to do--he is just that calm, patient and trusting.
He walks well on a leash and he rode well in the car. He is really a great dog who does well with other dogs and kids. He will make a great family pet or a companion for someone who doesn't want a dog that requires a lot of exercising. He is a 6-7 year old Bully mix, weighs 60 lbs., is up to date with vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and chipped. If you are looking for a low key buddy, come meet Ricky.
