LOTTI (3mo Mini Dachshund) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Thursday. Lotti became part of the family when she was just 8 weeks old. Natalia had already potty trained and had taught her a few commands. She called me because she wanted to teach her ALL commands and become a more knowledgeable Pack Leader herself. She also wanted to make sure Lotti would be a good airplane passenger for a trip Natalia was planning to take very soon. Natalia was exceptionally proficient in following her homework assignments, as Lotti would be almost 100% during her weekly reviews. Needless to say, she was a perfect little girl on her flight and passed with "flying" colors. She learned all commands and Natalia is now a proud and effective Pack Leader!

STORMY (6mo Dachshund) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Sydney and her brother, Declan, had done a pretty good job teaching Stormy some very basic commands and teaching her to use potty pads. However, they wanted her to learn all commands, while building their own Pack Leader skills. They both did a wonderful job on following their homework assignments (lessons) and Stormy turned out to be just what they had hoped she'd be....very smart and easy to train! Kudos to all three!

XENA (11mo Husky) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Wednesday. Destinee and her daughter rescued Xena 2 months ago and are providing a wonderful furever home for her. They worked on several commands, and got her potty trained but needed to get additional help to teach her additional commands and work on jumping, mouthing, and pulling on the leash. Xena accomplished all commands. She is still a "work in progress" for jumping and pulling on the leash. However, Destinee has strengthened her leadership skills and is now much more confident in being a stronger Pack Leader. They both learned so much, together, as a team. Yeah!

BINGO (7mo Pomeranian) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course today. Maggie and her mom, Derlan, are previous clients. We trained Tyson over 6 years ago. Maggie worked with Bingo, using all that she learned with Tyson, but also wanted a little help. She also decided this would be a good time to refresh Tyson's commands, along with tweaking her own leadership skills. Bingo did great, was a fast and eager learner. Tyson was quick to recover some of the commands that he had "forgotten". Maggie concluded she had become "too lenient" and will work on that. It was a win-win all around! I enjoyed working with them again!

PENNY (3yr Shih Tzu) completed her Advanced Basic Obedience Course on 7/21/26. Darlene had taken her through Puppy Basic Obedience as a puppy. She now wanted to obtain advanced training to prepare her for the test to become a therapy dog. Darlene will work with Penny for a few weeks and then we will begin training for the therapy dog certification. Penny definitely has the temperament/personality to become a welcomed member of society; bringing comfort and love to those that need it! Can't wait to work with Darlene and Penny again.

SKYE (5mo Australian Shepherd) just completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. She was a quick learner and with the leadership of Stephanie and other family members, she learned all commands very quickly. She is being taught to respond to both a standing individual as well as one in a wheelchair. She's doing great in both instances.

OLIVE (8mo Husky/GSD mix) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Tuesday. Renee and her daughter, Sarah, rescued Olive in June of this year. They had discovered that she is very nervous and anxious with strangers. She jumps on everyone and nips and mouths (harder than normal). She also pulls on the leash. In the beginning she wouldn't let me get close enough to her to show her the commands, so I had to walk the gals through the techniques. Around the 3rd session she felt more comfortable with me as long as I didn't make sudden movements. Between the 3 of us, we were able to teach her all of the commands. Her jumping and nipping/mouthing have subsided but still needs additional reinforcement. We needed to introduce the pinch collar, which made the world of difference with her walking. We were all happy to see the improvements Olive made and could see some of the nervousness dissolve and confidence/playfulness emerge. Congrats to the 3 of them!

JOKER (3.5yr Miniature Pinscher) completed his Basic Obedience and Behavior Modification Course on Wednesday. Jessica rescued Joker 4 months ago and tried doing a bit of training on her own but decided she needed a little extra professional help. We were able to teach him all of the commands, and fine-tuned ones he already knew. Over the course, Jessica strengthened her leadership skills by learning to be consistent, patient, following-through, and using calm but assertive commands. Joker's jumping and jealousy subsided, and pulling on the leash has dramatically decreased by adding the pinch collar. Excessive barking while on walks will continue to decrease the more socialized, he becomes. Great job by both!

ROSIE (1yr Bernedoodle) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Michelle and Dennis brought Rosie into their family when she was 8 weeks old. They worked with her on a few commands but felt it was now time to include some professional help. She had selective hearing, was mouthing, jumping, and pulling on the leash. We fine-tuned whatever commands they had been working on, as well as introduced all the ones she didn't know. We definitely learned how to eliminate mouthing and jumping. Walking was also a part of the curriculum. It was most important to strengthen Michelle's and Dennis' leadership skills, as Rosie needed to see them as strong Pack Leaders. I believe all that was set out to accomplish has been done. Now it's practice, practice, practice! Be patient, be consistent, use calm assertive commands, follow through, and always use positive reinforcement!

BANDIT (11mo Australian Cattle Dog) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course on 6-2-26. Alison and Tony had done some personal training with him but finally decided to get a little more help from a professional trainer. Not only for Bandit but for themselves as well. He has learned every command, is quite good at them, but does need a very strong, assertive Pack Leader. Alison and Tony worked on themselves as well, strengthening their leadership skills. It definitely was a win-win situation. Kudos for all three.
