ARES (4mo GSD) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Mary received Ares as a family re-homing situation at 7 weeks old. She had begun potty training and working on a few basic commands, before contacting me for professional assistance. Mary has had previous dogs, so she has very good "dog sense". While we worked on commands with Ares, we also worked on strengthening Mary's leadership skills. The two worked very well together, and will continue practicing every day!

JAX (1yr Jack Russell mix) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course today. Don rescued him about a month ago from his local shelter. His previous history was unknown, but we think he may have had some training. We obviously worked on all commands, some he "caught on" quickly, others took some work. But all-in-all he learned them all. He is a very sweet, high energy, smart pup and Don has his work cut out for him. But with the strengthening of his leadership skills, it will be a piece of cake for Don. We also introduced Jax to Don's neighbor friend's dog, Sammy. There are now many plans for future play-dates!

SAMMY (7yr Wheaton Terrier) completed his Advanced Basic Obedience Course today. Kathy acquired him as a "re-homing" situation four months again. He had had some previous training with his previous family but most of it had been "forgotten". There were also several behavioral issues Kathy wanted help with eliminating. Whatever we had discovered he knew, we just tweaked. What he didn't know, we taught him. We also worked on eliminating unnecessary barking, jumping, mouthing, and pulling on the leash. Kathy has a lot of good "dog-sense", so now that her leadership skills have been strengthen, they two of them are on their way! We also introduced Sammy to Kathy's neighbor friend's dog, Jax. It was a match, so many play dates are ahead!

GALAXY (5mo Lab mix) just completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course. Rudy, Alicia, and Olivia brought Galaxy into their family in December '25. They had done all they could do on their own and then decided to get some professional help. Over the past month and a half, we have fine-tuned the commands that they had been working on as well as taught him all the ones he didn't know. Rudy and Alicia also developed stronger leadership skills along the way, which has helped Galaxy a lot. They will continue to work with him and we are planning on a follow-up session in a month or so. I am looking forward to seeing them all again!

WHISKEY (4mo Bernese Mt. Dog) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Carolina brought Whiskey into her family a month ago and began doing potty training and "sit" on her own. She then reached out to me for basic obedience training, not only for Whiskey but for herself as well. They both did extremely well! Whiskey was an eager and fast learner and Carolina quickly became a beloved Pack Leader. I look forward to a follow up and loose leash walking session once Whiskey gets his final round of vaccinations.

MILO (1yr Chihuahua mix) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Wednesday. Milo was rescued by Jenny, Diana's daughter, and is currently staying with Diana. Milo basically only knew "sit" and "drop". So, Diana wanted him to learn all commands, stop jumping and pulling on the leash. All commands have been learned, and Diana will continue working on teaching Milo not to pull by using the Sporn non-pull harness. Milo is a sweet little boy and loved learning. And do did Diana!

JETHRO (2yr Standard Poodle) completed his Basic Obedience Course on Thursday. He came to Alma as a "family re-homing" situation. He had had some training in hopes of becoming a service dog, so much of our training was tweaking what he already knew and teaching the commands he didn't know. It was also to help Alma strengthen her leadership skills. Pulling and lunging on the leash when other dogs were near was also an unwanted behavior that we worked on. A pinch collar was introduced and made an immediate difference. Alma will continue to work with him, while working on her new leadership skills. They make a great team!

DALLAS (5.5mo Lab) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Wednesday. Zane and Maddie brought Dallas into their family when he was 8 weeks old and had done some previous work with him on their own. However, upon seeing their cousin's dog, Ruka, after her training, they decided to get a bit of help from me as well. We basically tweaked whatever he had already learned, plus taught him what he didn't already know. Most importantly, we worked on strengthening Zane's and Maddie's leadership skills. All 3 made huge improvements. We will, hopefully, continue with advanced training when they are ready.😃

YUZU (1yr GSD mix) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Tiffany has had Yuzu since she was 4 months old. She has done a great job so far in teaching Yuzu a few commands but wanted to get professional help with additional training, for both of them. There were a couple behavioral issues as well to take care of. The major one was jumping on visitors/strangers, which is still a work-in-progress, and pulling on the leash. The Sporn non-pull harness is having a positive effect on that. All commands have been learned, with a very good response level. Kudos to both of them!

WINSTON (4yr GSD mix) completed his Basic Obedience Course on Tuesday. Audrey recused him as a 12 week old puppy. She had done some e-collar work with him when he was younger, but decided positive reinforcement was better for him. She had done great work with him on her own but wanted to fine-tune, not only his commands, but strengthen her own leadership skills. They have both done exceptionally well in all areas and are truly a wonderful team!
