There is never a good time to say goodbye and unfortunately that time has come for someone who has touched and impacted the lives of so many around her. We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Jean “Jeanie” Brazelton, the famous “Peach Lady”, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.
She has been a fixture at the bottom of Gates Canyon for over 70 years. After marrying rancher and farmer, Eugene Brazelton, Jean leaned into farm life with her husband, raising four children, canning fruits, baking peach cobblers and maintaining prolific gardens that nourished her family.
Though all of this may sound like a full busy life, Jean impressively pursued her Associates Degree in Agricultural Business at Solano College and then worked as a satistical enumerator for the National Association of States Departments of Agriculture. She became know as the woman you wanted to chase down the farmers for needed information.
Where many may know her from are the years and years she spent selling peaches and fruit from the farm stand at the edge of town. Once a single red wooden table and overhang, she spent countless hours packing and selling fruit, greeting and chatting with customers and friends who made the drive out to the ranch for the sweet summer treats.
She will forever be missed and the blue house with the fruit stand beneath the Vaca Mountains will never be the same without her presence.
Grandma Jean, rest peacefully. We will miss you ❤️
Jean was passionate about local organizations, so in lieu of flowers or cards, we ask you to consider donating to some of Jean’s favorite organizations.
