ADOPTION UPDATE

✨ POKEY ✨

Ten months.

That’s how long Pokey waited inside the shelter for someone to see him and realize just how special he was.

His story with us started when he was at the dog park, left behind, until Animal Control received a call about an abandoned dog inside of the park, and brought him to the shelter. We loved him, cared for him, and tried to heal the pain of abandonment that he so obviously suffered and hoped every day that the right person would walk through our doors.

But the days turned into weeks… the weeks into months… and Pokey waited.

Then, one day, someone saw his picture on Facebook. ❤️

Something about Pokey’s face spoke to them, and they just had to come meet him.

And when they did… they fell in love. 🥹

Pokey had finally found his people.

Today, this boy is living the life he had been waiting his whole life for. He spends his days running around and enjoying his big backyard, soaking up the freedom and happiness of having a place to call home. And when he’s all tuckered out from his adventures, he gets to curl up on the bed and cuddle with his family. 🛏️🐶❤️

From being abandoned at a dog park… to waiting 10 long months in a shelter… to finally having a family, a big yard, a soft bed, and endless love.

Pokey’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the dog you’ve been looking for is the one waiting patiently for you.

We couldn’t be happier for you, Pokey. ❤️

Meet Sabbath!

He is convinced that life is one big adventure, and he’s ready to make the most of it! 🐶💙

Sabbath is full of playful energy and always seems to be asking, “So…what are we doing next?” 😄 Whether it’s a walk, a game, exploring somewhere new, or simply spending time with his favorite people, this boy is up for anything!

At just one year old, Sabbath has so much life ahead of him, and he’s looking for someone who will be ready to run, play, explore, laugh, and make memories right alongside him. 🐾🌎

He’s not looking for a boring life…he’s looking for his next great adventure, and hopefully, his forever person will be coming along for the ride. ❤️

“You might not know my name.
You might not know where I sleep.
You might only see me for a few seconds as I cross the road or slip beneath a porch.
But if you look closely at my ear, you’ll notice something.
The tip is missing.
And that little ear tip tells you my story.”
“Someone noticed me.
Someone realized that I was part of their community and that I needed help.
They humanely trapped me and took me to a veterinarian. I was spayed or neutered. I received care and was returned to the place I know as home.
And now, wherever I go, I carry a little reminder that someone cared.”
That tiny ear tip is one of the ways our shelter and animal-control professionals can recognize a community cat who has already been through TNR / Trap, Neuter, Return.
We don't need to wonder if they need the same surgery again. We don't need to put them through the stress of unnecessary trapping and handling.
We simply know:
Someone has already stepped in for this cat. 🐾
And that's why we believe that an ear tip isn't a scar.
It's a symbol.
A symbol that says:
❤️ Someone noticed me.
❤️ Someone helped me.
❤️ Someone cared about my future.
So the next time you see an outdoor cat with an ear tip, don't just see a cat missing part of an ear.
See the story behind it.
Because sometimes, one tiny ear tip says everything:
“Someone cared enough to help me.” ❤️

🐾 Just an hour of your day can help change a life 🐾

You may think, “What difference could a couple of hours make?”

To a shelter animal, those couple of hours can mean everything. ❤️

It can mean:
🐶 A dog getting to stretch their legs and feel the sunshine.
🐱 A cat getting some much-needed one-on-one attention.
🐾 A nervous animal learning that people can be kind.
❤️ A lonely animal getting to feel loved instead of overlooked.

Volunteering isn’t just cleaning kennels or walking dogs. It’s giving shelter animals something they desperately need. Connection, enrichment, patience, and hope.

And you don’t have to be an animal expert,
You don’t have to have tons of free time, You don’t have to commit every week.

You just have to be willing to show up.

Maybe you have an hour.
Maybe you can come once a month.
Maybe you can help behind the scenes.

Whatever you can give, it matters.

These two orange gals are ready to brighten up your life! 🐱🐱

Some cats bring love. Some bring laughter. And then there are orange cats who bring an entire ☀️RAY ☀️ of personality into your home. ☀️🧡

These two sweet girls are hoping their next chapter includes a cozy couch, a warm lap, plenty of toys, and someone to love them forever. They are Mother and Daughter, but not a bonded pair. Can be adopted together, or separately, and they’re both ready to leave shelter life behind and become someone’s beloved companions.
