Mop handles and martingale slip leads are a couple of the items currently at the top of our wish list! 💗🐾 Did you know you can easily shop and buy through our Amazon list and it will be shipped directly to us? Check out that link in our profile. 🔗📦

We do a lotta mopping here at the shelter. With hundreds of live animals in our care, messes are made! 🫟 And they gotta get cleaned up. 🫧 Martingale slip leads are super helpful when we take dogs out to potty, meet potential adoptions, go on a news spot, etc. 🐶 The martingale design helps the lead stay a little more secure than a regular slip lead.

If you check out our wish list you’ll see some of the other items we really need such as large wire dog crates for foster families, pocket pet food, Adopt Me leashes for off-site events, etc. Every donation helps!

Shadow has experienced a major glow up and now has a new leash on life since first arriving at Helping Hands Humane Society.

This sweet-natured female Pyrenees/Shepherd mix came to us back in February. She was with a group of dogs who were in poor condition and needed support and care to make a turn around. Those dogs have since been adopted (Reggie, Lainey, Benny, Belize, Tuck, Rainbow, Zeus, Tanner, and Jed), and Shadow is the last of the group now looking for a family to love.

Why is she last? During her time with us, Shadow gave birth to a litter of puppies! The puppies named after planets who came up for adoption yesterday and all found homes. ❤ She and her babies were fostered at Topeka Correctional Facility as part of their Pawsitive Pathways program. We are very grateful that they had a loving environment with lots of invested fosters to care for them during that time!

Now that her babies have grown and found homes of their own, it's Shadow's turn. Shadow can be cautious at times, but she's a very friendly and happy girl. We would love to match her with someone special!

Your donations help support the care of animals like Shadow who enter our shelter in less than ideal conditions. We couldn’t do what we do without your help!

From 3:30-4:30pm tomorrow we will welcome our Feline Friends to Yoga 🐈 with a special sound bath!

Join us for a Kitty Karma Yoga - HHHS 10 Year Celebration!!! 🎊

Family-friendly
Ages 5+ required to have registration 👧🏻

Please bring your yoga mat and whatever you wish to practice with. Class mats and blocks are first-come, first-serve.

Class will start with gentle movement before settling into full relaxation with a soundbath provided by Angela Rusch Lexow. [I highly suggest bringing a pillow and/or blanket for class as well as your yoga mat.] 👂

Helping Hands Humane Society will bring several feline friends into the Hills Room to join us Saturday, June 20th. 🐈‍⬛

Follow the asana flow as much or as little as desired. 🧘‍♀️

Stay on your mat/in a chair during class. No chasing animals. 🪑
Water bottles need to be spill-proof. No open cups, straw tops, or soda can styles; think twist cap or camelbak. 💦

Be respectful of other participants.

Follow any instructions given by Helping Hands Staff or Volunteers.

Like his vampire counterpart, Jasper is wise with years (about 11) and has a few scars, but he’s still as handsome as ever! A guardian angel from our community has sponsored his adoption fee, so he’s also $0 to adopt!

We can’t gate keep this cuteness any longer!!!

We will add more new adoptable pets to this post as the day goes on, but we wanted to introduce you to some sweet babies right away who are new to the adoption floor. We open at 11:30am for adoptions!

If you've ever seen volunteer Dan hanging out in the play yard, you've probably noticed one thing: every dog with him seems to be smiling. ❤️🐾

Dan is one of those people who makes everyone around him feel a little happier, humans and dogs included. Whether he's taking a pup for a walk, offering some extra attention, or simply spending time with them, his positive attitude and kindness shine through. We are incredibly lucky to have Dan and so many other amazing dog volunteers who spend their mornings helping our shelter dogs feel loved, enriched, and seen.

The dogs in these photos are some of the lucky pups who got to spend time with Dan, and they're all looking for families of their own!

🐶 All dogs 5 months and older are included in our Pick Your Price adoption special, starting at $0.

Come meet your new best friend tomorrow! We're open from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
