One of the quickest ways to get ignored by a reputable breeder is sending a message that simply says, “Price?”

The purchase price of a Doberman is actually the cheapest part of ownership. Food, training, veterinary care, health testing, supplements, emergency medical expenses, and routine care will cost far more over the lifetime of the dog than the initial purchase price.

If your first and only concern is finding the cheapest puppy, a Doberman may not be the right breed for you. Dobermans are an amazing breed, but they are also known for health concerns that require responsible ownership and financial commitment.

Quality breeders invest thousands of dollars into health testing, genetic screening, veterinary care, proper nutrition, socialization, registration, vaccinations, microchipping, and raising stable, healthy puppies. You are not just paying for a puppy—you are paying for generations of carefully selected genetics and a breeder’s dedication to producing the healthiest dogs possible.

Remember: you get what you pay for. Bargain-priced puppies often come from breeders who cut corners on health testing, temperament evaluation, and proper care. What seems like a “deal” today can become a costly medical nightmare tomorrow.

Before asking about price, tell us about yourself, your family, your experience with the breed, and what you’re looking for in a Doberman. Responsible breeders want to know where their puppies are going, not just who can send payment the fastest.

🐾A Reminder About Raising a Doberman Puppy🐾

You cannot purchase a high-drive, intelligent working breed like a Doberman and expect them to automatically become a couch potato. Dobermans were bred to work, think, learn, and be active. Their behavior as adults is heavily influenced by the time, training, structure, and consistency you provide after they leave the breeder.

As breeders, we spend countless hours socializing, caring for, and giving puppies the best possible start in life. However, once your puppy goes home, the responsibility shifts to the owner. The breeder raises the puppy for the first few weeks; you raise the dog for the rest of its life.

Puppies are not born knowing house rules, manners, boundaries, or obedience. Those things must be taught through patience, repetition, and daily training. If you allow bad habits to develop, fail to provide structure, or don’t meet your dog’s physical and mental needs, you’re likely to end up with an unruly dog—not because of the breeder, but because the work wasn’t put in.

A well-bred Doberman is a blank canvas with tremendous potential. What that puppy becomes depends largely on the environment, leadership, and training it receives after it leaves the breeder.

Remember: Training doesn’t end when you bring your puppy home—it begins.

One thing we hear often is, “I just want a pet. I don’t care about showing, breeding, working or pedigrees.”

Guess what a Doberman is : WORKING ! lol they are a working breed , not a couch potato .

Gosh they are just breathe taking ☺️

There’s a lot of hidden work as a breeder .
I’m feeding all 13 of these babies every three hours .
We add in the milk supplements and probiotics.
Mommas milk supply could be better
Mommas appetite could be better
I’m applying ointment to their declaw sites twice daily
Non stop bleaching and laundry .
Bathing and sending home other and getting their folders and bags together . Ear care of the crops.
Picking up p**p from all my others twice daily
Scrubbing water bins and refilling
Bleaching down all runs.
Trimming nails on my adults
Protocol for deworming viper pups
Ear crop appointment sent !
Cleaning the Wolfdogs pen and scrubbing his bin
We do have other companion animals here
Being a human mom to a child.
Running here , running there ….
Forget cooking dinner for myself , I don’t think I even ate Lunch …. 🤔can’t remember.
Making up formula three times a day.

The list goes on …. And literally on …….

Getting up in the night to let momma out and feed pups.

I’m physically and mentally exhausted .
I put my EVERYTHING into my babies !

I wanted 7 pups …. Not 13!!! Sheesh 🙄
