🐾🌡️ A reminder during this mini heat wave: While the air temperature may top out around 92°, surfaces can become much hotter.

🌱 Grass: ~96°
🛣️ Concrete: ~129°
⚫ Asphalt: ~140°

At those temperatures, paw pads can burn in seconds. If the pavement feels too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws. Consider early morning or evening walks and make sure plenty of fresh water and shade are available.

🐾 June is National Foster a Pet Month — and at Detroit Animal Care and Control , there's a way for EVERYONE to help shelter dogs, no matter your schedule.

Here's how:
🏕️ DETROIT DOGVENTURES — Just a few hours! Take a shelter dog to Belle Isle, a pet store, or your favorite dog-friendly spot. No sign-up needed. Just show up any day between 10:30am–3pm (dogs back by 5:30pm).
🌙 SLUMBER PARTIES — One or two nights. Take a dog home, let them decompress, and fill out a simple report card to help us find their perfect forever home. No advance registration needed.
🏠 REGULAR FOSTER — The full deal. Foster an adoptable dog for up to six months while they wait for their forever home. You'll get support from our foster team, and all vet costs are covered by FoDACC.
