Rudy is a beautiful 1-year-old mixed breed searching for a fresh start.

After being adopted, Rudy was found as a stray and brought back to the shelter. Sadly, her owner never came back for her. She’s confused about why she’s back, but she hasn’t lost her sweet spirit or her hope for a second chance.

Rudy walks wonderfully on a leash and is eager to learn. She’s curious, playful, outgoing, and ready to become someone’s loyal companion with a little guidance, patience, and love.

🐾 TAIL-WAGGING TUESDAY 🐾

💙 FEEL-GOOD STORY ALERT! 💙

A few weeks ago, we were contacted about two 10-year-old Chihuahuas, Sugar and Bo**er, whose world had been turned upside down.

Their elderly owner relied heavily on a loved one for care, but after he was suddenly hospitalized and faced life-altering health challenges of his own, everything changed. With no one left to care for them and their owner unable to keep them, these two beloved seniors found themselves in need of help through no fault of their own.

Most of the dogs we help come through Caddo Parish Animal Services, and because our resources are limited, we are rarely able to step in for owner-surrender situations. But sometimes, a unique circumstance comes along that simply breaks your heart.

When one of our board members offered to foster Sugar and Bo**er, we were able to say "yes."

That one act of kindness kept these sweet seniors out of a shelter environment and gave us the time needed to network them. We're thrilled to share that both have now been tagged by a rescue and are on their way to the next chapter of their lives.

These are the moments that remind us why rescue matters. While situations like this fall outside the scope of what Companions is typically able to do, a unique set of circumstances and a foster stepping forward made it possible for us to help. We are incredibly grateful that everything aligned to provide a positive outcome for Sugar and Bo**er during such a difficult time for the family who loved them.

🐾 Meet Mindy! 🐾

Mindy is a beautiful 3-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who finds herself searching for a new family through no fault of her own. This sweet girl may be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her a little time and you'll quickly discover a loving companion with a smile as big as her heart.

Mindy walks wonderfully on a leash and already knows commands like "sit" and "come." She has lived with cats and is incredibly loving and devoted to her people. More than anything, Mindy is hoping to find her special person again.

UPDATE 5:30 pm: BREAUX DELPHINE AND DAUPHINE AND HAVE ALL LEFT THE SHELTER AND ARE SAFE!

UPDATE AS OF 10:36AM 6/5: We were just informed that there will be no euthanasias today! We are uncertain as to why, but we are so grateful. These dogs are still not safe, and they still desperately need fosters ASAP!

🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTERS NEEDED BY NOON TODAY 🚨
Meet Breaux, Dauphine, and Delphine. Three lives hanging in the balance.
The shelter has given us permission to find emergency fosters while they continue networking these dogs for rescue. But there is one heartbreaking catch:
⏰ They must be out of the shelter by NOON.
These dogs are not asking for forever today. They just need a safe place to land while rescue efforts continue. Even fostering for a few days could be the difference between life and death.
