Riding In Harmony LLC

Riding In Harmony LLC I grew up in Upstate NY and started riding when I was 12 years old. I competed in Hunter/Jumper and basic dressage for 5 years.

Dressage Rider
Assistant Trainer
German Cavalry Style Apprentice - Horsemanship and riding style catered towards the horse's and rider's biomechanics to create a hardy, athletic, durable horse. I started my career as a Working Student for my very first instructor, where I was able to assist with lessons and learn about horse management and care. Simultaneously, I worked as an Exercise Rider at a

Therapeutic Riding Center. In college, I became a Working Student for a trainer who specialized in dressage. After a few years off from horses, due to moving for graduate school, my husband and I moved to WI where I became an Assistant Riding Instructor at a local Morgan facility for 2 years. Here I was able to teach beginner Hunt Seat and Saddleseat lessons. I start my students with an emphasis on learning balance and with a focus on Equitation. I have brought students into the show ring and my previous students placed in all their classes, even taking a few Firsts and Championships. I am now specializing in Dressage and retraining OTTBs.

🚨Barn Standards, Safety, and Respect: How We Run Our Riding Program🚨

✅️Running an effective equestrian program requires a foundation built on mutual respect, clear boundaries, and horsemanship that puts equine welfare and student safety first.

✅️To keep our barn running smoothly and safely, we hold standard expectations regarding cancellations, rider skills, and personal responsibility.

❗️The 24-Hour Cancellation Policy❗️

A lesson reservation is not merely booking our time; it accounts for:

⚠️Equine workload management:

Lesson horses are conditioned athletes. Their feeding, turnout, and exercise routines are planned days in advance to ensure they are properly warmed up and not overused.

⚠️Instructor scheduling:

Time slots are reserved exclusively for you, preventing other riders on the waitlist from booking.

⚠️Operational resources:

Barn labor and preparation begin hours before a rider sets foot in the arena.

⚠️Late cancellations and no-shows compromise a horse's planned schedule and prevent other dedicated students from riding. The 24-hour notice allows us to adjust horse care appropriately and offer open slots to others.

⚠️Skill Progression and Foundational Standards Equestrian sports carry inherent risks.

⚠️We expect adult and junior riders to develop and demonstrate foundational skills before advancing to ensure:

⚠️Horse welfare:

Horses respond to clear, balanced, and educated aids. Inconsistent basics cause confusion, discomfort, and physical strain for the animal.

⚠️Rider safety:

Rushing milestones before mastering basics—balance, rein management, ring awareness, and groundwork—leads to accidents.
Self-sufficiency: Horsemanship happens both on the ground and in the saddle.

⚠️ Independent grooming, tacking, and handling are essential components of riding education.

❗️Coaches, Not Parents: Attitude and Personal Responsibility❗️

⚠️Our role is to teach classical horsemanship, equine biomechanics, and riding discipline. We are riding instructors and trainers, not parents or behavioral adjusters.

⚠️Focus on instruction:

Arena time is dedicated to equine education and skill development, not managing resistance, poor sportsmanship, or basic behavioral redirection.

⚠️Accountability:

Students must arrive on time, focused, respectful, and prepared to listen.

⚠️Equine sensitivity:

Horses mirror emotional energy. A negative or resistant attitude compromises safety for everyone in the arena.

✅️We are committed to helping dedicated riders reach their full potential. Setting these standards ensures a safe, professional, and positive learning environment for every student and horse in our care.

As summer comes to a close and I prepare to head back to work next week, I can’t help but reflect on what an incredible season it has been. We were able to accomplish so much! 🐴✨

Highlights from this summer:

🐴Pony Club Growth: Officially starting up our Pony Club Riding Center and watching our Pony Clubbers crush their first round of testing!

💃Harmony’s Big Success: Harmony rocked it out of the park this summer! She was absolutely amazing and competitive at every show, successfully moved up to Training Level, and continues to amaze me with her work ethic and athleticism!

📚Continuing Education: Investing in my own growth as a rider and instructor! I participated in two fantastic clinics—one focused on strategies to work through rider anxiety, and another working alongside a physical therapist to dive into rider biomechanics and how to be a better partner for my horse.

🥂Young Horse Milestones: Being a part of our training horses’ journeys—including getting to be the first one to sit on them (hands down my favorite part of the job!).

✨️Refining the Team: Retraining one of our dear school horses who needed a little extra support getting back into work, and spending time schooling our lesson horses to keep them feeling their best.

🚧Program Expansion: Continuing to grow our lesson program and welcoming so many wonderful new students into the fold.

I am so grateful for all the progress, hard work, and great memories this season. I can’t wait to see what fall brings us! 🍂🌾

Congratulations to our newest Pony Club members on their testing success! 🎉

Lenora – Completed her Horse Management D1 and English D1!

Even when faced with a challenging ride, Lenora stayed calm, problem-solved, and rode with true grit. We always remind our students that horses aren't machines—they have off days just like we do—and the mark of a great rider is adjusting to the horse you have on that given day. I am so proud of how she handled every moment. Lenora absolutely rocked it! 🐴🌟

Zach & Brittany – The ultimate husband-and-wife dynamic duo! 👫💖

Zach – Completed his Horse Management D1 and English D1!

Taking on a new sport as an adult takes incredible bravery and dedication, but Zach is thriving! He consistently puts in the effort, asks great questions, and keeps growing as an equestrian. So inspiring to watch his journey! 🙌✨

Brittany – Completed her D3 Horse Management and D3 Dressage!

I could not be more proud of Brittany. Stepping back into the saddle after a long hiatus following severe riding accidents takes immense courage. She has returned in full force with renewed confidence, dedication, and heart, putting in the work every single day to reach her goals! 💪❤️

Watching this power couple support each other, work hard, and crush their goals together is beyond inspiring! 💪💙

✨ Interested in joining the fun? Whether you're a youth rider starting out or an adult beginner looking for a supportive community, our Pony Club Center is always welcoming new members! Drop us a message or stop by the barn to learn how you can get involved and start crushing your own equestrian goals! 🐴✨
