Our boy Ghost got to do some confidence work today. We tend to go to our local park to introduce new textures and moving surfaces. It helps the pups in the program be ready for anything. At the end of this training session, his brother Bear joined, and we worked on other people handling the dogs. This is important because we never know when someone might have to take over if a handler experiences a medical emergency. Also yes these two boys can be handled by young children

Training: Bear and Ghost are both 7 months old and got to try on and get used to their "big boy" gear, so to speak. Bear is in a mobility harness, but don't worry—the handles are not in use due to his age. At this point, he's getting used to a guide handle resting on his back. The CB handle is also not in use; it's just not detachable, so we have a leash wrap attached to it. The boys worked on directional cues and alerting to different elevations and tripping hazards. These two boys are coming such a long way, but they still have a lot to learn!

Ever wonder what having a service Dog at the gym entails? Bear got to accompany his handler to the gym tonight. He was confused at first because his handlers HR being all over, but, this is where the down stays come in handy. Normally we would have a place mat but the trip wasn't planned. Also safety is a must and the pup should be socialized with the equipment. Bear is trained to nudge when his handler's heart rate gets too high, however, in the situation of working out at a gym there are times it wouldn't be appropriate to nudge or jump to alert. Because of this he's learning to let out a single yip/ bark.

Last night bear went to the local 5 below to work on public access and picking up objects. Hes starting to pick up on then new task beautifully.

"Ghost" went with me yesterday to my Cardiologist appointment in Appleton! He alerted to my anxiety on the ride there and provided pressure the best he could.

At check-in Ghost stood between me and the counter, while watching my back/the door. He ignored a gentleman who tried to call him beautifully.

After we checked in, Ghost got to be introduced to an elevator for the first time. He was curious about the ding it made, but entered without any hesitation. He did refuse to sit, but accepted treats throughout the elevator ride and he did not go to rush to get off the elevator.

He slept peacefully almost the entire appointment, he did pick his head up when the Dr. walked around the chair I was sitting in and jumped when he spotted Ghost, Ghost promptly put his head back down and fell back asleep while we talked. We did decide to schedule a tilt table, to confirm the diagnosis of POTs or if it's something else.

When scheduling my follow up Ghost laid calmly at my feet..
