Hello folks,

Our first training class is well underway and we are filling the next class set for May 4th.
If you have a dog that needs solid obedience work, call us and we can set up an appt to either consult or reserve a slot. We have 2 openings left.

If you are a gun dog retriever owner it is highly recommended that you contact us at least within the next two training cycles to get your dog out in the water before many ponds and small water bodies dry up during the summer heat. It also gives you enough time to work with your dog before fall after the training is completed.

Don't wait before it's too late! Train them young.

Happy Resurrection Day weekend!

Things to consider when deciding our class is right for your dog:
-Keep it real.
-Training that concludes with real world results takes time. It really does take a minimum of 6 steady weeks of training for your dog to attain a basic method of understanding to achieve a noticeable and productive outcome.
-Trained dogs are NEVER a “one and done” with training. A well trained dog requires training maintenance.
-Thorough training requires an atmosphere starting with minimal distraction by skilled, consistent training fundamentals that provide your dog with a clear mental picture to help develop an understanding of a model it will use for the remainder of life.
- We do not train in handler/dog group classes where several dogs are present at the same time. Group training can more often than not become too much of a distraction for many beginners training ,often leading to frustration and failure. Distraction training is used at this kennel only at an advanced level.
-Upon course completion , owners are familiarized with the training concept so dogs can start reading and understand the structure, input and value in their owners as they did with the trainers. It may take multiple return visits for owners, depending on the dog. (no charge for refresher visits)
-Owners are informed of the psychological /motivating factors (AKA “drives”) in their dog identified by the trainer to give them an upper hand when it comes to giving their dog what it needs for a successful reward or training session. (ball/toy drive, food drive, prey drive, praise drive)

As it should be, owners will become the number one master in the dog's life. Owners are expected to maintain basic fundamentals after the training is complete..

- Once dogs have completed the course, owners are independently trained on how to maintain the structure, value and input that has been shaped into their dog.
- Owners are provided with written follow up instruction as well as video recordings showing their dogs progress. Videos are also a learning tool to reference while in the maintenance phase of training.
- Owners are always welcome to continue their maintenance training with our kennel and it is free of charge as long as owners have been studious to the follow up.
-Training by a professional eliminates potential let down. Oftentimes owners do not have enough time to train dogs on a daily basis, and professional training eliminates problem solving/trouble shooting training hiccups that are commonplace to a training kennel environment.
-Psychological understanding of how a dog's brain works vs. human “thinking” is critical in determining the most effective way to shape your dog's behavior to get maximum results. Oftentimes we humans like to think, or compare our human attributes to our dogs and try to correct behaviors that lead to confusion and failure. This is called anthropomorphism and is innocently/accidentally introduced, but can have devastating effects on training.

At Beaverbrook Kennels we are here for your training needs. You can expect honest consultation and real results in a clean professional environment.

Hello folks,

Something new offered by our Kennel:

In the near future our Kennel, for the first time, is going to be offering two started dogs. Meet Tubbs and Scotty.

Both of these males are from our AKC litter from May 2024 and are intact. Both have started training for retrieval and marker work. From there they will be moving on to be scent imprinted on antler sheds as a retriever type.

These two will be going through our normal basic six week obedience course compounded with multi-faceted hunting training which will include gunfire, steady, delivery to hand, place marker training, and E-collar conditioning. By the time these two are done they will be off to a great future in the hands of their new owners.

During the off season from hunting, these dogs will be great antler shed hunters and will have been trained with modern locating methods.

These dogs have been groomed socially since they were born and have been exposed to a ton of environmental conditions including contact with other dogs.

New owners will spend several sessions with the trainer (me) to learn how to maintain their skill sets. They will not leave here until I am personally satisfied.

If you like what you’ve seen with what we have done with dogs in 6 weeks, you will be able to see what we can do in 12-16 weeks. If you are serious about a well trained dog, these will be “the guys.”

We will post periodic progress of the pups.

If you are seriously interested, please call 715-468-4924.

This dog was shown previously in before and after videos of which she had learned the “hold” command.

The very end of the following video displays the overall objective of one of many venues the dog will be used for……….hunting.

Consider the total picture at the end of the video of what has been cleaned up through the process of obedience training compared to the first part of the video and notice a lot has changed. Throughout training, the dog has achieved superior obedience which now bleeds over into stability at the heel side, no break from position, focused marking, holding and direct return to handler. It is now up to the owner to understand and maintain the dog’s training.

Way to go Sunny!

Call us at 715-468-4924 for more information or to reserve your dog’s spot for training.
