Hello friends! Is anyone else OVER this heat? We sure are🥵. This summer has been absolutely brutal and, sadly, it doesn’t look like it is giving up any time soon! We are going through SO much water every day (800+ gallons) filling and refreshing tanks, tubs, pools, and etc just to keep all the animals hydrated and cool. Thankfully we have a really good well, but we don’t even want to talk about the electric bill😒. Yall please pray for rain! We NEED IT.

Unfortunately this extreme Oklahoma heat has meant we are going through hay just as fast as we do in the winter at this point (our pastures are pretty well scorched… except the weeds of course. 🙄) and we are needing to buy more round bales and alfalfa today!

Round bales are $50-$60 each ($50 if we can buy a load of 8 at once) and small square alfalfa is $20. If you can help even a little bit? We need it and would appreciate it SO much! We simply dont have the funds, but we HAVE to get more hay today. Every single dollar counts!

Hey friends. It’s time for a quick update on Sarge, and also a plea to help us with care costs for him and our other current cases!

I feel like this video really sums up Sarge in general. 😂 This sweet wiggly guy is doing REALLY well! He has officially completed his first 30 days of heartworm treatment, and his skin infections are healing beautifully. He’s gained a little bit of weight already, is really one of the SWEETEST boys ever, and will do just about anything for a butt scratch. As you can see, he’s almost a totally different dog compared to a month ago… He is scheduled to get neutered within the next 2 weeks, before he starts getting his big time heartworm treatment injections.

That said-we are still badly in need of donations for him to be able to complete his full treatment, AND for Daisy (the mama dog we recently posted, more pics of her and her pups very soon!) and her pups to go in for another vet visit/the pups to begin their vaccines. We also are going through puppy pads and other supplies like crazy with that crew! Sadly, The costs for euthanizing Michonne last week really cleared out any extra we had😔… So if you can spare even a few dollars this week? It would be SO appreciated!

On Thursday afternoon we lost a pivotal member of our herd and a incredibly loved and special friend. Michonne wasn’t ready to leave, but her old body couldn’t keep going… After coming to us after enduring horrible starvation and cruelty, she showed us how incredibly strong she really was… She recovered fully, and went on to spend the last 12 years as the pasture matriarch, the baby sitter, and a true favorite of visitors and our therapy friends. She ran the pasture with an iron fist when needed, but was also gentle, sweet, and so very kind. She adored children, and connected with them the moment they saw her… on multiple occasions, children who were mostly non verbal? would speak to her… her spirit was magic. She was magic.

We are all crushed beyond words by her loss, but we had to do the last right thing for her in letting her go.

Rest easy, sweet girl. Your magic lives on in every person you helped and loved here on earth. 💔💜💔

Hello and Happy Tuesday! We have a new case that we have waited a bit to share about, but now I feel confident in doing so.

On July 10th we responded to a call regarding a dog and her 8 newborn (1-2 days old max) puppies that were dumped at an abandoned homeless encampment. 😔

PLEASE NOTE: Some of these first photos might be unsettling to some people, but it’s important to share the situation, and why we had to step in… and I don’t in any way want this post to be negative towards anyone who is unhoused. I will say that the majority of the people I have worked with who are unhoused have taken far BETTER care of their animals than the majority of people in much better situations…. I do believe that these dogs were placed here AFTER the camp was abandoned. But I will never know the full details.

To be completely honest, the LAST thing we wanted or needed was to take on another case while we are still in the middle of Sarge’s treatment, and battling this brutal heat with all of the other animals here at the ranch… but the situation was dire, and we knew that this momma and her babies were absolutely not going to make it without immediate help. It’s heartbreaking that someone would just leave any animal like this, but NEWBORN BABIES? It’s despicable. 💔

The momma dog (who we think is a Springer Spaniel mix, and we are now calling Daisy🌼), was very dehydrated, stressed, and emaciated. The puppies were all extremely dehydrated as well, and most of them were very close to death due to heat exposure. I made the choice to wait to post about them until I had a better idea of if they would even make it, because the puppies were in really bad shape.

We have now had them here for 11 days and I am happy to report that Daisy is doing amazing. She is a wonderful momma, and a JOY of a dog to handle and interact with. Sadly, we did lose one puppy😔… she was just too far gone and passed quietly the first night we had them. The other puppies were touch and go for a bit, but have bounced back and are now doing awesome! They are fat little butterballs and ADORABLE. We have no clue what they are mixed with, obviously, so it will be a surprise to see what they end up looking like.

We will be needing to take Daisy and all the puppies back to the vet soon for another recheck, and the puppies will have to start their vaccines soon. We have already had to spend quite a bit of money on special food for Daisy, dewormer, flea/tick treatment, etc…. So ANY donations anyone would like to make would be SO appreciated. Again, we were not planning on 8 new souls to care for… but, their little lives mattered, and they deserved a chance to be loved and happy! So we don’t regret it.

💜Sarge update time!💜
‼️DONATIONS NEEDED ASAP FOR HIS MEDICAL CARE!‼️
Hey everyone! Thank you for your patience while we have been looking into all of our options for Sarge’s medical care moving forward!

Before we get into all that, I wanted to answer the most asked question we’ve had so far… “Is his case is going to be investiated?” The short answer is YES. His case IS continuing to be investigated. Also, I AM aware of a post that was made in another local group, potentially about him. However, I cannot speak on that, nor can I speak on the current status of the investigation. We hope those responsible are brought to justice just as much as you all do. We promise!

👉Now for his medical situation!
Monday afternoon we were at the vet for a full workup… He did great with the vet! He loves meeting new people and is just a super friendly guy! However, we didn’t get great news overall.

The vet was just as shocked as we were that he survived out in the heat like he did. He was still dehydrated but making great progress. He had responded to the sub-Q fluids well, thankfully! He is underweight, and has quite a bit of muscle that he needs to build back. He also has multiple skin infections from “urine scald” (which is essentially the hair and skin rotting off due to being constantly soaking in urine and f***s… and we knew that just from looking at him). A few of the areas, specifically an open sore on his right leg, part of his stomach, and a large portion of his tail, are pretty severely infected. He has been started on antibiotics for this now. He also has diarrhea due to intestinal parasites, which we have began treatment for as well. He will have to be neutered as soon as safely possible due to one testicle being concerning, but thankfully that will be a non-issue when neutered. Sadly, the worst thing we found out is that he is Heartworm positive, and it is a very progressed case.😣

We have began Heartworm treatment now, which includes a month of oral medication, a month waiting period after completing the oral medication, and a series of injections combined with more oral medications in the following 2 months. Unfortunately, Heartworm treatment requires very strict exercise restrictions AND is very expensive. But, it is absolutely necessary for his survival and long term health.

Thanks to your donations already, we were able to pay for his initial vet visit and current medications! We are so thankful to you all for that. 💜

I have included the veterinary estimates for his treatments over the next 4 months in the photos. We were advised to expect the high range in terms of cost… This will total around $1400. 😳

⭐️We REALLY need your help to make sure Sarge gets the necessary treatment he needs to live a long and healthy life! ⭐️

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay in updates on Sarge (also now known as “Sergeant Wigglebottoms”… because everyone needs a Government name. 🤣) We went to the vet on Monday, and unfortunately didn’t get great news… we are still waiting on final estimates on what he needs moving forward… I will have everything tomorrow, and will post a full update then!

Sarge spent most of Sunday sleeping (he was SO exhausted) and rehydrating. Even with sub-Q fluids it took some time. I also realized very quickly that we needed to bring in some HEAVY HITTERS when it came to bathing… So, on Monday morning we went to our VP’s grooming salon, and after 6 FULL SHAMPOOS TOTAL, we got him clean! (Or as clean as he’s going to get… he’s still stained, and still has some lingering smell… But, it was soaked into his pores, so there’s only so much we can do. It will take time… But it’s MUCH improved!). We also got his disgusting molded together collar removed, and he got a summertime watermelon bandana…. He thinks he looks pretty snazzy!

We have began treatment for a lot of things, but he’s going to need a lot more moving forward… like I said, I will be sure to update tomorrow when I get the final paperwork from the vet. He is greatly enjoying some couch cuddles in the cool AC today, though…. He’s already looking a lot better just being clean and rehydrated. 💜

Check back tomorrow for full vet update and what the future holds for this sweet guy!

Last night we got a call from a Pottawatomie county sheriff deputy… We have worked with this deputy in the past, and appreciate the fact that he genuinely cares for animals and tries to help in serious cases the best he can… and this was definitely a serious case.

The deputy had been called out to an abandoned property where neighbors had heard weird screaming sounds for approximately the last week… they finally found the source of the screaming. It was this sweet boy. Locked in a kennel on the front porch, filled with urine and f***s. According to neighbors nearby, there had been cars going to this property periodically… but there had been no signs of anyone for at least a week or more. This isn’t a highly populated area, but the closest property said they started hearing sounds about a week ago. The sounds got worse and louder the last few days, which made them search more…. And they finally found him yesterday evening. We don’t know how long this poor dog had been there, but it was a while….

The deputy started calling this little guy “sarge” so that’s his working title for now… We believe he is maybe 2-3 years old, and a frenchie/poorly bred English bulldog/pitty mix of some sort. He is obviously full of worms, covered in fleas/ticks, extremely dehydrated, has countless urine scalding wounds on his feet and legs, is absolutely disgusting and COVERED in urine and f***s… but still just the SWEETEST boy ever. He was so thankful to be let out of that horrific cage, and just wants all the love and attention.

We are all SHOCKED he survived being left outside in that cage for even one day considering it’s been 95+ degrees and SO humid, and bulldog type dogs are VERY sensitive to heat. Even the healthiest ones can easily crash and have heat strokes!… He’s a survivor for sure!!! (A very smelly survivor currently, but a survivor none the less!)

He got some sub q fluids last night, will be getting a massive scrub down bath today, and his collar will be cut off (it is so gross it has essentially fused with itself and we can’t get it off him without cutting it. But, last night he was stressed and tired, so we decided to wait till today.) and first thing Monday we will be getting him to the vet for a full work up. We badly need donations for his veterinary care ASAP. We will update more on Monday with the vet’s assessment.

Hey all! We have an unfortunate situation that has put us in a bad spot recently. I really didn’t want to do this but, people make their choices… so here we are.

This past fall we had a volunteer, Devon Cook, who we considered a friend, offer to take our John Deere riding lawn tractor/mower to his “shop” (supposedly located in Moore or Yukon area, but who knows..🤷🏻‍♀️) to do some needed maintenance and repairs. He and some other people had just started a small engine repair business and wanted to help us out. We paid for the parts and everything needed. I told them it was no big rush as it was fall/winter (even though we use it for hauling things as well, we could get by without it for the time being, especially since it was currently in need of repairs so we couldn’t use it then anyways) but we obviously would need it back before spring…. LONG STORY SHORT- we trusted the WRONG person.

Not long after, Devon stopped all communication. We have been unable to get in contact with him whatsoever since. He has blocked me on all social media also (it’s cute how he thinks that I don’t have alternate options though 🤣… he’s still posting in groups all over, and probably stealing from more people daily😒.)

I’ve found out other information since then as well, that leads me to believe that this is NOT the first time he’s done something like this. We know at this point we will never get our property back. He’s likely already sold it. Yes we are looking into legal options to go after him for this… but the chances of anything coming from that? Are slim.

SO NOW, we no longer have our mower that we use to maintain the property AND are out the money that we paid him. (Which was only like $80, so that part is not a huge deal, but it’s the principle of the matter…) our grass in certain areas is getting badly overgrown (which is a big issue for ticks, snakes, etc) we need to fix the front fence badly, but have to have the grass cut back so we can do that, and we no longer have it to haul/pull feed and supplies either😤🤬😤.

In a time when we are working our butts off to just make sure that all the necessary bills are covered? Buying a new one is NOT an option, and paying for someone to come and mow is just more money that we are going to have to come up with… it’s just a mess and is SO FRUSTRATING. 😡

SO- if anyone knows of someone with a decently sized riding mower that works well but they don’t want it and they might be willing to donate it? PLEASE let me know. Or if you know of a lawn crew that might want to come help us get things under control for the time being while we figure things out? Let me know as well. If you would like to donate so we can maybe buy a new one if we can find one at a SUPER CHEAP price? That would be great too. (I will put links below) 🫶

I don’t regret trusting people and thinking the best of them… but it hurts to know someone would take advantage of others like this, especially a non profit that’s trying to do good for animals and humans alike. It’s sick. I don’t want anyone to go after him in any way or do any harm, KARMA WILL DO HER JOB. However, I am posting these photos because I hope none of our followers ever do business with this man or his associates ever again…

YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! 💜🥹💜

Thanks to everyone who donated, we were able to get a full load of decent SAFE prairie mix hay delivered this afternoon! 🎉

Beckham (more commonly known as “Becky: who’s always up in your business!”) the world’s most sociable/nosey pig, has been investigating it all very thoroughly, and is super excited for his horse-friends! (And also demanded to be a part of the photo!… you pick your battles. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣.)

Seriously, I can not thank everyone who donated enough…. I may have cried a lot today…. Things have been hard, but you all give me so much hope. Does this fix everything? No. But it absolutely helps makes it a lot easier knowing that we have safe hay for our babies for the next little bit, and gets us past this awful past few weeks…. Truly we are so grateful. 💜💜

Some other exciting (if not totally off topic. Haha.) news that’s coming up that I wanted to share…. We are working on totally overhauling our website! We hope to have it live within the next few weeks. (Maybe sooner. We will see!) and are excited to share that with you all… so keep your eyes out.

Again- I love you all. 💜💜 that’s all I can say right now… just thank you, for helping make a horrible situation a little bit better for all of us. You are all rockstars. 🥰
