WAG Welfare for Animals Guild

WAG Welfare for Animals Guild Our aim is to protect animals from neglect, abuse, & exploitation, & to advocate for their welfare. WAG is a dog rescue on the Olympic Peninsula, WA.

Our animals are cared for in foster homes and at the Halfway Home Ranch until loving, permanent homes are found. All of our dogs are spayed, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with appropriate veterinary care. Our goals are:
To rescue lost, neglected, ill, injured or abandoned dogs. To provide those animals a safe place until adoption. To provide a resource for people that can no longer take care of their dogs. To find loving, forever homes for dogs in need.

Meet Leia 💛

A housing change left her without a home, so she came to WAG. Leia still needs some dental work before she is ready for adoption, but we could not wait to introduce her.

She is small, fluffy, and fully convinced that snuggles, cuddles, and belly rubs are everything. Her adorable antics (including her dramatic flops) have already melted the hearts of staff and volunteers here at WAG.

This is what hope looks like at the ranch. Gracie has signaled the end of training games. The treat pouch sits on top of her head to help make the point. Chippy and Latte have decided this is only a temporary setback.

Before and after telling Carl he's a good boy. This type of realization is something worth barking at. Carl is 6.5 months old, a snuggly puppy, quick to learn, and only occasionally a bit wild. (But what puppy isn't?) To adopt this good boy, please apply through our website, www.wagsequimwa.com/adoption-form

My Cat's surgery is tomorrow! What do I do?

No food after midnight on Saturday!
Cat must be in a carrier! The carrier needs to be well secured, with a towel in it. It also needs to be labeled with your name, phone number and the pets name.
DO NOT put food or water inside carrier!
Day of the Event-

Check in will Start at 8am to 8:45am- Only 3 clients will be let in at a time, so one human per one cat is needed. Space is very limited, and there is a lot that can go wrong with a door and cats being outside of the carriers during their initial exam!
PLEASE be patient and kind to the volunteer at front door/ locking in between clients for initial cat exams when they need to be out of their kennel.

Doors WILL NOT open before 8am and we will lock the door at 9:15 am! Please bring your cat in at time of registration in the carrier, your cat will be approved for surgery after our vet tech does an initial exam. At that time, we get your pet comfortable for surgery, and you can leave.

We will call you when your pet is ready to go home from recovery, we ask that you are available to come pick up your pet when called.
PRICING
Neuters: $60
Spay: $125
For clarification because it isn't always common knowledge, boys get neutered and girls get spayed.
We are also offering vaccines and microchips for the animals that we alter on that day- those costs are as follows:
Rabies Vaccine: $5
FVRCP/FELV Vaccine $25
Wormers and Flea treatments are also available, however the cost varies based on the size of the cat- so please ask about this upon check in. If the pet clearly has fleas or worms, we will need to treat them and that will be added to the final cost of the services.

For this event we are CASH OR CHECK ONLY! Payment happens when your cat gets picked up, in case any surprises occur in surgery, the cat has fleas/ worms etc. We will confirm the cost with you over the phone when we are letting you know that the kitty is ready to go home. (See bottom of post for pricing).

If you are low income, we are able to subsidize 50% of the surgery, not any of the vaccines or treatments- To do this we would give you a financial hardship application, and we need proof of low income with information regarding SSI, SSDI, SNAP, public housing, unemployment or state assistance/ TANF. We do not copy any of that information down we just need to see it at check in for verification.

If you have any further questions- please give us a call at (360)-775-6648.

Our friends over at Rise need a foster home to help out this little dog and her human. Please contact Rise if you can help.

Temporary Foster Needed for a few months.

This is Jade.

And Jade needs a long-term foster home for the next few months while her dad is in the hospital longer than anyone expected.

This isn’t a surrender. This isn’t someone “giving up” their dog. Jade is deeply loved, and her family is doing everything they can to make sure she has a safe place to land until she and her dad can be reunited again.

The challenge is that Jade is really struggling in the kennel environment. She’s a fun little dog with a lot of personality, and being cooped up is hard on her. She needs a couch. A routine. A soft place to lay her head.

You can’t totally tell from the photos, but she’s actually on the smaller side — our best guess is maybe a cattle dog or shepherdy thing mixed with corgi - because yes, she's got the ultra adorable short little legs. We’d guess she weighs around 30lbs. And she is seriously one of the cutest dogs you'll ever meet - photos don't do her justice.

Dad says she does not do well with other dogs, which we know makes this a much taller ask. But we also know there are some incredible people out there with quiet homes, spare bedrooms, or a soft spot for dogs who just need someone to help them through a hard chapter.

Extended family on the East Coast is involved and committed to supporting from a distance with whatever Jade needs during her stay.

If you think you might be able to foster Jade for the next few months, please reach out to us. We would really love to keep this family together.

Email [email protected] if you can help, and we'll put you in touch with the family.
