We had a lovely time meeting all of the pets and people at our first Pet Lovers Day! Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and kind words, shared an interest in our mission, and to those who made donations to our Angel Fund to help pets in need of emergency care! Most of all I'd like to thank our receptionist Cindy and vet assistant Tenille for volunteering to represent our hospital at our booth! The Pet Emergency Group and all involved did such a great job putting on this event and we can't wait to come back next year!

We want to send out a warning to pet owners to keep a close eye on their pets while outdoors. We have seen an uptick in cases of dogs attacked by deer in their yards - especially small dogs. Deer can be extra defensive during fawn season which can put your pet at risk if they inadvertently encounter a deer in your yard. Here are some tips to keep your pet safe:
✔️Do not leave your pets outside unattended
✔️Check outside prior to letting your pets into the yard to ensure no deer are nearby. They are most active in early mornings and late afternoon/evenings.
✔️Do not allow your pet to run off leash when outside of your yard. Additionally, please do not allow/encourage them to chase wildlife.
✔️Fawns will often bed down in high grasses, camouflaging them. Use extra caution when walking your pet in fields with high grass.
✔️Consider keeping an airhorn close by when your pet is out in the yard, as it may help scare off a deer as they approach your pet.
