Bring in new toys, and trading out even switching out toys once a month is a great way to keep your cats’ curiosity and hunting drive active without getting dull over time.

Sometimes just a regular walk is great for confidence building. It can make them see new things not seen or heard before, and get the chance to sniff new areas.

Many rescues and shelters use SaveThisLife. Also many horse auctions use this company as well! You will need to register your pet again with another company. Many veterinary clinics do not know about this, so please make sure your does, so they can check everyone and their chips, along with if they need to register with another company or not.

International Pet Registry (844-477-7387)

International Equine Registry (800-431-6856)

You can use these two to re-register your dogs/cats/etc or your horse. It’s what BML uses for their mustangs, and you get a certificate as well with their photo and info on it.

Make sure to get your pet scanned if you don’t know the company they are with. I tried to even call SaveThisLife and their phones are disconnected. They have been shut down, and not allowed to community with the public at this time. Something may change, but until then, these animals are at risk!

We always think of our and about with dogs. However, some cats like them as well! While cat are normally homebodies, some can be trained to walk on a harness, and some love pet strollers. Just always make sure the harness is a PROPER fit, as cats are very good at getting out of things, and NEVER walk a cat with a collar. Unlike dogs, their muscles in the neck are weak, and like humans, they have collar bones that can break. Even with a stroller, make sure it is very secure, and never put them or yourself in any danger.

It’s that time of year again, where dogs are boarded, and come back with a strange cough or hack. What time of year? Kennel cough! Also known as bordetella or even sometimes just an upper respiratory infection or cough if your veterinarian wants prefers a conformation test before claiming that’s truly what it is. (Note it is NOT canine cough or doggy cold, these are just terms boarding facilities and doggy daycares will try to use to make it “sound” better. Also, be weary if the facility you use tries to make excuses about it or hide it from you and/or friends in order to keep their door opens.)

Talk to your veterinarian right away if you dog starts to cough or hack after a boarding or daycare visit! And make sure to let them know if they were at any facility with other dogs, even a groomer.

Best way to stop and reduce is for dogs to have a proper vaccination, closing down to fully clean, and keeping kennels at LOW temps to help kill and stop the spread of the virus, is the only way to fully get this virus gone. Also, plastic is one of the WORSE things for viruses and such to live on, as it thrives there. There are many strands, but ALL can be treated and prevented the same.

Here is a great video showing how well a “stay” can be. Notice that while moving, the lead is being pulled slightly, but the stay was kept until a release signal (a verbal click) was heard.

Independence Day already? Well, Happy 4th of July! Here are some safety reminders for today while out and about celebrating. Just a reminder, just because YOU like it doesn’t mean your pets will. Best thing is to keep them inside and safe, with a quiet place to hide, and if they do like to watch the fireworks, they can from the safety of inside. Be safe and happy 4th, everyone!

It’s that time of year again! With summer time can be “Fun in the Sun” time, it can also meant pet safety reminders!
☀️ 🐕 🐈
ALWAYS make sure to have water available at all times. 💧
Make sure to check the temperature before going out for walks. 🚶‍♀️
Do not leave your animal in a vehicle that is not running, even if “just for a minute” or “parked in the shade”. 🚗
When outside, even in grass, try to take some time to spend some time in the shade, and when outside make sure there is shade even when in the yard. 🌳
Talk to your vet about more safety tips, and we will be talking more about proper grooming for the summer and about heat stroke dangers soon! ⚠️
