Owning a dog that has big feelings with other dogs is challenging and can feel isolating when having to restrict your dog's life to prevent dangerous outcomes. However, you do not have to walk that road alone.
I have a range of Behavior Modification services focused on creating long lasting and meaningful results with dogs who have anxiety, fear, and aggression. My goal is to provide dogs and owners with the tools needed to build a cooperative relationship and achieve individual goals.
Even as a professional dog trainer, my dogs can experience big feelings in daily life where I have to navigate their needs to develop desired behaviors instead of allowing them to habitualize problematic and dangerous behavior.
Kessel (my personal dog in the orange harness) and Olivia (a friend's dog) were reintroduced after being separated for a year. Previously, they were always together until one morning Olivia was not responding to Kessel's signals to give him space...I immediately stepped in and separated them before a dog fight happened but Kessel was very angry following that interaction so I made the choice to keep them separate for an extended period of time. He is not a dog that will forget interactions like that. It was important for it to become a distant memory.
I focused extensively on neutrality and arousal regulation around other dogs during this time which played an important role in their reintegration. They enjoyed their off leash time together this morning and I'm so happy that Kessel can have social time again!
