Humane Society of Sarasota County operates the area's premier no-kill shelter, providing compassionate care for cats and dogs while expanding lifesaving programs, fostering collaboration, and educating communities to build a No-Kill Florida. We achieve our mission by providing compassionate care to our shelter pets, finding them permanent homes, and promoting responsible pet ownership in our commu

nity. Our vision is a community where all animals are cared for and loved. HSSC saves 3,000 cat and dog lives each year through a combination of adoption, reuniting lost pets with their owners, community cat programs, and more. Until the day when every pet is a wanted pet, adopters are the angels who make happy endings possible for the thousands who have been abandoned. If there is room in your home and heart, visit HSSC and bring home the pet of your choice. HSSC's adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, health checks, vaccines, preventatives, and microchipping.

THE PETCO LOVE FLORIDA MEGA ADOPTION EVENT IS ONE WEEK AWAY!!!!!!!!

Next Friday, June 19:
· 200+ dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens will be looking for homes
· Adoption fees will be waived for all available animals
· Our biggest adoption weekend of the year begins

Our June Tails & Tours this morning was a wonderful opportunity to come together and discuss an important topic for our community as hurricane season begins. 💙

Guests enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at HSSC, light breakfast bites, and an informative conversation focused on hurricane preparedness and keeping both people and pets safe before, during, and after a storm.

A special thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today's event so meaningful. We are grateful for the supporters, donors, and community members who continue to stand beside us and the animals in our care.

We're already looking ahead to our July Tails & Tours event, where we'll be exploring Nonprofit Financial Literacy and sharing insights into how responsible financial stewardship helps organizations like HSSC continue their lifesaving work.

If you've ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at the shelter, this is your chance to see it firsthand. This free networking event is a chance for LGBTQ+ and ally-owned businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community members to connect, share ideas, and build relationships with others throughout the Sarasota area.

🚨 Free June TNVR appointments are available now. 🐱

Kitten season is here, which means every unaltered community cat can quickly become dozens more.

Our Trap–Neuter–Vaccinate–Return (TNVR) Program helps stop the cycle before more kittens are born outdoors. Community cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and returned to the place they call home.

💙 June TNVR fees are currently waived.

If you're seeing outdoor cats around your neighborhood, apartment complex, workplace, or local businesses, now is the time to schedule.

📅 Appointments available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

🚨 Important: Community cats must arrive in a humane trap. We cannot accept cats in carriers. Need a trap? Humane trap rentals are available.

🚨 THE BIGGEST ADOPTION WEEKEND OF THE YEAR IS BACK 🚨

June 19–21, Humane Society of Sarasota County will join Petco Love & Mega Adopt Florida for the Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event, a statewide effort to help 2,000 pets find loving homes in just 3 days.

Here in Sarasota – more than 200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens... LOTS OF KITTENS will be looking for homes during this incredible weekend.

Last year, our community helped 122 pets find homes in just 3 days – including a record-breaking 70 adoptions in a single day. This year, we're aiming even higher.
