Felines & Friends New Mexico FELINES & FRIENDS is dedicated to rescuing and placing homeless cats in need of a second chance. To date, we have placed over 5,500 animals into loving homes.

FELINES & FRIENDS is dedicated to rescuing and placing cats in need of a second chance; working towards zero pet overpopulation by facilitating low-cost spay/neuter; and improving the lives of both companion animals and their owners through on-going education. In recent years, significant strides have been made in reducing the euthanasia rate of dogs and cats all across the nation. FELINES & FRIEN

DS plays an important role in this effort, interfacing with local shelters to rescue “special needs” and hard to place cats. Since its formation in 2002, FELINES & FRIENDS has gained a reputation in Northern New Mexico for its proactive work in the pairing of cats and their humans. FELINES & FRIENDS utilizes a comprehensive adoption screening process to enhance the fit between pet and their adoptive family. The organization also maintains a strict return policy if ownership commitment cannot be met. All FELINES & FRIENDS cats are FEL/FIV tested, current on FVRCP vaccinations, micro chipped, and spayed or neutered. If old enough, they are vaccinated against rabies as well.

Kitten Season is Here and Felines & Friends NM Needs Fosters 🐾🍼

Every year during kitten season, Felines & Friends NM takes in vulnerable kittens across Santa Fe and New Mexico. Right now, we’re looking for foster homes to help care for kittens until they’re ready for adoption 💙

Do you have an extra bathroom, spare room, or space for a playpen? You can make a huge difference for:
🐱 Newborn kittens
🐱 Bottle babies
🐱 Nursing moms with litters
🐱 Under socialized kittens
🐱 Just weaned kittens preparing for adoption

Fostering gives kittens a safe place to grow, heal, socialize, and thrive. Felines & Friends NM provides supplies, medical care, guidance, and support along the way.

Many of our foster kittens find their forever homes through our Mobile Adoption Events around Santa Fe. These events help kittens socialize with new people while connecting them with potential adopters. We’re also always looking for volunteers to help at adoption events!

MR. GRAY is Group 1 Automotive’s May Cat of the Month at  Felines & Friends New Mexico 🐈💙

Mr. Gray is a quiet sweetheart who loves chin scratches, cozy beds, and being close to his people. At around 6 years old, he’s the kind of cat who makes every room feel a little calmer.

Mr. Gray is FIV+, but he is in excellent health. FIV is only transmitted between cats through deep bite wounds, so many FIV+ cats live happily in mixed-cat households without issue. It poses no threat to humans or other species.

This sweet boy is ready to find a loving forever home ✨

Meet Phil & Joni 👋💙

This one year old tabby bonded pair is currently hanging out at the Santa Fe Cat Cafe and looking for a forever home together.

Joni is the more confident one. She’s toy obsessed, full of energy, and usually causing some kind of chaos around the cat lounge before eventually settling into your lap for cuddles.

Phil is a sweet orange boy with a gentle personality. He has really blossomed at the cat cafe and now asks everyone for attention. Once he trusts you, he turns into a total cuddle bug.

Together they bring lots of purrs and double the love ✨

Found kittens? Here’s what to do 🐱🐾

It’s instinct to jump in and help but in many cases, the best thing you can do is *wait*. Mother cats often leave their kittens temporarily while they search for food and will return.

Knowing when to step in (and when not to) can make all the difference for their survival.
