This is exactly why this breed is on the harder side for most people to work with!

Zar will react largely to a tiny sound, but when something is unusual, he will slow himself down and think about it carefully before doing anything about it. I had a mare out in the aisle and a clear shot moving him across to a different stall. He could not be convinced without taking his time to contemplate every step.😂

30 minutes later, he walked calmly out and into the new stall after he had thought about every option. Got to love these stallions! 🥰

Observational learning is a interesting way horses can learn from each other.

These two horses couldn’t be more different from each other, which is why I often choose to work them together.

Cobalt, the sorrel mustang gelding, has more go than whoa, and is inclined to have emotional moments. When he is full of adrenaline, he has a hard time stopping his feet or self soothing.

Pelipa has more whoa than go. She hates to be asked to lope and she really makes me work hard to get that speed.😂 she’s counting on me having two less legs to be able to catch up to her to make her move😉

With Cobalt in the round pen with her, I am able to get a happy medium out of both of them. Also, Cobalt is still nervous of the saddle but when he sees how calmly Pelipa works with it on this helps him feel brave.

Both of these mustangs are amazing projects. Cobalt is just eight while Pelipa is twelve. They both have their strengths and challenges and would match up well with Mustang savvy people. They both want to please you when they work.

Pelipa is so brave. Although she is not yet under saddle I have done a few ba****ck things with her and I am able to work with other horses seeing me on top of her because she is so quiet minded.

Trainer thought provoker for the day….

You only know the horse as you know him/her.
I know the training horses as they are at my house, and so many things influence that.
That horse that I know, they can be totally different for a different person or in a different environment.
SO many things influence the horses behavior.
The way they live can change their energy level.
Are they coming from a place where they lived in a herd 24/7 and now coming into a place where they live in a stall and have minimal turn out with others?
Or the opposite?
Some horses are very catchable in a stall or turn out alone but once you add the distraction of other horses it becomes a harder thing for them to do.
Are they eating the same food as when you got them? Did you add more feed that translates to more energy on a horse? Or hotter feeds like grains?
I look at all these things when evaluating the horse in my environment.
Cobalt is a great example. He is a forward moving horse already but once he had less turn out time with others his energy really came out. Not in a bad way. He just has HUGE movement and is ready to work!
This horse is a power house! He has a lovely ground covering stride and has had several ba****ck rides. He is wearing a saddle but needs more time wearing it before he can ride with it on. He is fun and happy. This is his face after learning how to calmly put his feet on the tarp instead of stomping over it😂

He wants a person to call his own. Are you that person?

Pelipa.

What can I say? Some horses just have this kind of personality and want to be calm. She is that horse!
She is brave, friendly, wants to learn and loves to be picked to work.
She understands her groundwork, is wearing the saddle, but isn’t super confident with it yet and has ridden a couple of times ba****ck❤️
This girl would make somebody a lovely project.
Or leave her with me for training💕 I love her🥳

Indy is just an amazing gelding!
I can’t say enough about how great he is, he ties, cross ties, is good for the farrier, is great to handle on the ground and nice under saddle.
He rides with other horses or out alone but on trail takes a confident advanced rider because he takes his direction from his rider and needs someone that pays attention while riding.
He is forward moving and has strong bare feet.
He doesn’t do anything wrong, just is forward and strong, prefers an active riding partner and will do anything you want. His ideal home is someone who will give him adventures. He is currently doing 7+miles easily and staying strong, he would enjoy LD rides once fit. He rides in a baby rubber bit or basic snaffle, loves attention, and has a wonderful friendly personality. Indy and I working on staying balanced and soft in the bit and body control.

I love a horse Jeremy started under saddle because I can guarantee they have a great foundation to build on. It doesn’t matter how long ago he was with Jeremy, they retain training for 7 years!
Also I try really hard to not have expectations but meet the horse where he is at. They can be one way one place and another way in a different place with a different rider. We all ride differently than each other even if it’s just energetically.

Indy is an AMAZING horse. We are just working on refinement and getting conditioned for longer miles. He is strong. He has the BEST hard bare feet! He is a sweet kind horse who wants to please you.

Please ignore the mount/discount😂 I to do it carefully until my other knee is replaced and not ouchy. Indy is incredibly patient for it.

This beautiful mustang 16 year old gelding is available💕 please share so he finds his home.
