Thank you to owner Val Griffith ❤️
While I’m not a gaited horse trainer, I have rode/trained serval since I was just a kid living in Shadow Hills.

Retraining a sensitive, 9 year old mare with anxiety is no easy task. I’ve had Ellie in now for 6 1/2 weeks. She was always in a H/J barn since being born, so not “retraining” an OTTB. I could hardly even canter her for the first couple of weeks, and that still is a big work in progress to get her strong enough to hold a balanced canter with more power and stride. The trot her head was up and down, and the down was a hard pull. Her attention span is very limited. Her anxiety makes her tall and long body turn into a ball, that I have to respect, but also push little by little. The reason I see potential is she wants to work, she retains what I teach her and she’s not a jump out of her skin for no reason type of hot horse (HUGE pet peeve of mine 💩). Most trainers would not deal with this horse because it’s going to be a long uncertain road.
