Everyone’s invited! We’re excited to expand our popular $8 admission beyond Bexar County residents to all guests, regardless of where they live. This Saturday’s Community Locals Day, Presented by Community First Health Plans, will spotlight District 6 while welcoming everyone to explore the zoo, connect with wildlife and discover how we are working to help protect wildlife’s future.

This weekend is also your final chance to experience Zoorassic Park, presented by Bank of Texas, before it ends Monday, September 7. Additional Community Locals Days will take place September 13, October 9, November 27 and December 4.

Get a taste of the wild at WILD BITES on Sunday, September 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.! Throughout the day, witness hyenas, bears, jaguars, lions, tigers and more engage in non-live whole-prey feedings that encourage natural movement, instinctual problem-solving and species-specific behaviors. Animal Care Specialists will also be nearby to explain how these experiences support the wellbeing of the animals in our care.

WILD BITES is included with general Zoo Admission and FREE for Members. Whole-prey feeding may not appeal to all guests, so clearly marked alternative pathways will be available during each approximately 30-minute experience.

WILD BITES Schedule:

9:00 a.m.: Hyena
9:30 a.m.: Black Bear
9:45 a.m.: Spectacled Bear
10:00 a.m.: Komodo Dragon
10:30 a.m.: Fishing Cat and Fossa
11:00 a.m.: Jaguar
11:30 a.m.: Nile Crocodile
1:30 p.m.: Painted Dogs
2:00 p.m.: Lion and Tiger
2:30 p.m.: Bush Dogs

Training with Sofia the Sunda Gharial! After four years of working together, Nikole knows Sofia is one smart croc - even if she occasionally gets distracted by plants and misses a snack!

Training and husbandry allows animals to participate in their own care. For example, this "go to" command allows her caretakers to check her movement and monitor her health while she gets a little extra exercise - all voluntarily!

September is Frontline Heroes Appreciation Month!

San Antonio Zoo is proud to offer FREE admission to the brave men and women who keep our communities safe throughout the month of September. In addition, up to four accompanying guests can enjoy 50% off an Any Day admission ticket on the day of their visit.

Beginning September 1, all frontline heroes, including doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, and EMTs across the state of Texas, will receive FREE admission to San Antonio Zoo with proper identification.
