🐾Meet Harriet!🐾

Harriet has one very important rule: whatever everyone else is doing, she would also like to be doing it.

This curious, playful little girl absolutely loves being part of the action. She follows the big cats around to see what they're up to and made friends with the other cats in her foster home almost immediately—no lengthy introduction period required. Harriet seems to genuinely adore feline companionship and would be thrilled to have a kitty friend to play with and follow around.

She's also an absolute sweetheart with her people. One of Harriet's favorite moves is to run up to you and yell until you pick her up. Her reward for complying? She'll happily lick your nose while purring her little heart out. She also enjoys giving fingers tiny affectionate nibbles, because apparently kisses alone aren't enough.

Harriet is outgoing, curious, affectionate, wonderfully social, and determined to be included in whatever her family is doing. If you're looking for a tiny best friend who will make herself a very active part of your life, Harriet is ready to volunteer.

🐾🥰🍼 Often kittens won’t take a bottle, particularly if they’ve been with mom for a while. It’s just too ‘different’. Ensuring they get the nutrition they need, tube feeding is the best way, and from a practical perspective it’s a lot easier! I can measure precisely how much they need based on age and weight.

For those that use this method, I highly recommend this towel I’m using, it clings to itself so your ‘burrito’ stays snug preventing the wrestling with their paws frailing about and dislodging the tube. I’ll find a link then come back and post.

If you’d like to learn more about caring for these sweet babies, I’d love to guide and train you. They are the most vulnerable in shelters that don’t have the resources for continuous care. I know it may look scary, but once you get it, it’s like riding a bike! This goes for puppers too 😊

Even after 30+ years in rescue and over a 1,000 foster babies, it never-ever gets easy when one crosses the bridge.

I didn’t expect him to survive, he was pretty weak, very dehydrated and his little belly full of parasites. When we first got home I gave him IV fluids (it’s a small needle inserted just under the skin on their back, and saline water), cleaned him up some and gave a tad of dewormer. Then a good dose of milk as he snuggled into bed. Sometimes despite our best efforts, their tiny fragile bodies fail. To say I’m heartbroken for him and the amazing life he could’ve lived, is an understatement.

As of now, his brother and sister are hanging in there. They’ve respond well to hydration and are resting. Their eyes are bright and full of wonder, too! Let’s pray they continue to grow stronger! I’ll share more pictures soon, so keep an eye out! 😊

I want to share a bit of how this all played out. I received a plea for help - so we did. In the transfer of care I (possibly a bit sternly) encouraged the spaying of their pets to avoid such situations like this. It was 1030 at night, and I was feeling pretty crummy.

The unnecessary birth of puppies and kittens can be avoided by simply being a responsible pet owner. They are not just cats or dogs, they are living, breathing creatures from God. And, I will always stand for and fight for them. I was made to save animals. Period. 😉

I will never ever discriminate due to socioeconomic status. Everyone deserves the love a pet can give and vice versa. However that comes with a responsibility of care. It’s a commitment to be kind.

With all adoptions I share, it’s a potential 15yr commitment, and they’ll need medical care just as we do. There are far too many homeless pets in our communities and shelters- it can be avoided! There are many programs and resources available for those that need a little help, from low cost veterinary care to pet food banks. One only needs to ask.

I’ll get off the soapbox, I just had to share, Maggie and Me is here to help, we may not be able to take in every animal in need but we can guide you in assistance.

🚨 URGENT: BOTTLE FEEDERS NEEDED 🚨

Hi, friends! We’ve been made aware of 2 two-week-old kittens in critical need of help. We want to step in, but we MUST have committed fosters before we can do so.

The kittens may be divided between foster homes because caring for all five would be quite a task for one person. No experience? That’s okay! We will provide hands-on training and everything you need to care for them.

🎉 BELLE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🎉

Our hearts are overflowing with joy as we share some very special news: Belle, the very first animal to enter the care of Maggie and Me Animal Rescue, has officially found her forever home! 🐾❤️

Belle’s journey was not an easy one. After coming into our care, she underwent extensive treatment for heartworms—a long and difficult process that required patience, strength, and plenty of love. Through it all, this sweet girl showed us just how resilient she is. Today, she is healthy, happy, and beginning the beautiful next chapter she has always deserved.

We would be remiss if we didn’t extend our deepest gratitude to Belle’s incredible foster family. They lovingly cared for her throughout her treatment, comforted her during the difficult days, celebrated every milestone, and gave her a safe place to heal. They are such an important part of Belle’s story, and this happy ending would not have been possible without them.

Foster families truly are the heart of rescue. They open their homes, give their time, and love animals through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Because of Belle’s foster family, she was able to recover surrounded by compassion while waiting for the perfect family to find her.

To Belle’s wonderful new family: thank you for choosing adoption and welcoming this special girl into your hearts and home. We wish you many beautiful years filled with adventures, cuddles, happy memories, and unconditional love.

Belle will always hold an extra-special place in our hearts as the very first life entrusted to our care. Watching her go from needing rescue to being safe, healthy, loved, and finally home reminds us exactly why we do this work.
