📣Adoption Announcement 📣

Baloo has been adopted by the Houston Family!

Baloo was found by a Good Samaritan and rushed over to our friends at Crossroads Animal Hospital to get checked over before heading off to a foster home. The Houston family had previously adopted Cole from us, the young man on the right side and wanted to grow their family by 4 more paws. After Cole met quite a few candidates, Baloo was the lucky fella to head off with them.

More plastic kiddie pools!

We fill at least 5 pools a day (when we have them) to give our dogs something to cool off in and a little enrichment. They don’t last forever and We are down to our last 3 pools that can hold water!

We would love to have some donated and if we get a ton they will be stored until we need! One summer season often has us needing 20 pools!

Pools can be dropped off at any time 730-5, just ring the bell if we don’t answer or send us a message here! They can also be shipped from your favorite retailer to us as well!

Come Meet Sunshine today at our feline facility Sunrise Center Animal Rescue from 12p-3p!

Sunshine came to us after the storms that hit us in March. Sunshine is a 5 year old Tortoiseshell with the cutest white paws! She is cat friendly and would do fine with a respectful dog as well. Sunshine is friendly, but a little shy in the shelter. She is currently living in one of our cat rooms with a couple others who have lost their homes in the storm.

Sunshine will blossom even more once she's in a home setting again. Come meet Sunshine and other adoptable cats today at Sunrise!

Can't come today! We will have more opportunities to come visit our cats coming up soon! We have public visitation hours 3 times a week at Sunrise in Kankakee.

One week ago today we took in 4 very sick little puppies during our open hours.

Officially Meet Suki, Smidge, Poppy and Moxie!

While they still have an incredibly long journey ahead of them and are not out of the woods just yet, we’d like to thank everyone who donated to their care and show the tremendous progress they have made thus far!

With round the clock care, guidance from our veterinarian and their amazing foster family, their skin is already starting to improve and their eye ulcers decreasing. Suki’s eye is still the most swollen of the 4 and her foster family is closely monitoring her needs. We love to report despite everything, They are wagging their tails, incredibly happy to be fed and are overall turning into lively normal puppies each day!

Without our community, we could not continue to show up for the animals that need us most, often when we least expect it. Thank you for donating, volunteering, fostering or adopting and helping us continue caring for the homeless animals in our county.

Together we are rescue! 🐾❤️

📣Adoption Announcement 📣

Bella has been adopted by her foster family!

At KCHF, We love our fosters, but especially for senior dogs like Bella who had to start the search for a new family at 14 years old. After over a year staying in her foster home, Bella has been welcomed to stay permanently and we are thrilled. She’ll get to enjoy the same comfy beds, people and dogs she’s had the pleasure to live with this whole time and now officially apart of their family.

Congrats to Bella and the Buck family and thanks for opening your home to an older gal who needed one most.

Meet Skye!

Skye is a 2 yr old spayed female pittie who has been under our care since February without a single inquiry or application to make her family!

After being overlooked within our building for several months, this gorgeous gal landed herself a foster home while she waits for her people.

Skye has been reported to have settled in fairly quickly to her temporary home, be an absolute dreamboat by her foster family and plays SO well with their two dogs! She is crate trained, travels well and loves any adventure. Skye did well meeting all sorts of people,including kids and wouldn’t mind a home with them as long as they are slightly older kids that she can’t knock over in excitement.

There’s not much else to say other than she’s absolutely perfect and looking to join your family!

Meet Nicole!

Nicole is a 7 month old female Dane mix who is still looking for a home of her own. There were 6 of these girls that we welcomed into KCHF and only Nicole and Carmit posted yesterday haven’t found loving homes yet.

Nicole spent some time in a foster home before heading back to us to find a family. She’s been on a ton of outings, become a volunteer favorite and just a well rounded gal. Nicole is dog, cat and kid friendly but will need guidance and a refresher on house training since she’s been back with us a bit.
